How I Started:
My boyfriend (now husband) worked out consistently and competed and I figured if I wanted to see the guy I should probably figure out how to lift weights! I'd been an active athlete growing up, but stopped my senior year to focus on theater and college. Getting back to an active lifestyle was not fun at first! I really focused on weight training before our wedding in 2002, but have had ups and downs as far as sticking with it. I worked out during both pregnancies, but kicked it up after each to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. After helping the husband prep for several shows I decided it was my turn to get up on stage. I had to change my entire way of training, but I loved the results and haven't gone back to the "girly" side of the weights since! HARDCORE!!
Why I Love It:
I definitely don't always love working out, a lot of times I don't even like it, but I HATE how I feel when I don't...the better of two evils.
How I Stay Motivated:
My husband (username denverhanna1) keeps me motivated, plus the fact that we own a training studio helps. Practice what you preach, right? I wanna know I'm working harder than anyone else I'll compete against. Knowing that there are thousands of Figure Pro hopefuls, I gotta do what's gonna make me better than them!

My hubby!! Without his devotion I wouldn't have come as far as I have in the last couple of years weight training. He has transformed my way of thinking regarding women and weight and I owe my sucess in large part to his love and support! Baby, we're gonna take this as far as God will let us! Thank you for allowing me to explore this fabulous sport!!
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
We work out of 3 diff gyms depending on time and child situation.

What should look for in a gym? What should you avoid?
You should feel comfortable everytime you walk through the doors. If you're not going to step foot outside the cardio area b/c you don't feel confident, find somewhere you do...even if it's a personal training studio. Do you track your workouts (exercises, weight, reps, etc.)?
Yes

lol! Yeah me too. I had a guy come up to me talking trash that went up against me and I swore Id never met him in my life. Yeah the USA's or JR's would be a real good show for you! If you dont mind me asking, Why are you going from figure to bikini? Yeah Im gonna try to stay heavyweight for awhile. Dont think I can pull it off as a superheavy.
