When I Started:
Mar, 2005
How I Started:
I lifted off and on throughout high school and college, mostly to keep in shape for sports. Once I graduated college the lifting stopped and for the first time in my life I had nothing to keep me in shape. I predictibly gained weight and by the end of 2004 I was up to 205 with little of the muscle tone I had throughout HS and college. Essentially, I grew tired of feeling sluggish and fat and decided to do something about it. Going to the gym became a routine, but over time I've developed a love of the sport and I'm now consumed with bodybuilding, from nutrition to routines.
Why I Love It:
For someone who loves routine and predictibility it perfectly suits my personality. I'm also an extremely competitive person and I've essentially transferred my desire from hockey and golf to the gym, always pushing myself to put up more weight.
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm motivated by two things: first, the memory of how I felt at the end of 2004, when I was overweight and felt like crap; and second, by my constant quest to put up more weight, always pushing myself to get stronger.
BB Accomplishments:
Um....none? At this point, less than two years into consistent lifting (and only about 10 months with what I would consider a good, balanced diet), I haven't really accomplished anything other than getting myself into better shape. But I consider putting up new personal bests every few days to be an accomplishment so that's enough for me.
My goal is to get to 200 lbs. by the beginning of 2007, then up that amount about 20 lbs. every year.
Goal (Long):
I'm not terribly concerned with putting together a great body, but rather to get consistently stronger. As I said before, what keeps me going is my desire to put up more weight every week, so I guess my mindset is more that of a powerlifter. So in that regard I'd like to eventually get to a 350 lb. bench, a 400 lb. squat and a 450 lb. deadlift. Right now I'm at about 250/350/375, so I have a long way to go.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 50 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
8%
