Goal (Long):
Well, I'm on a deployment, pretty much the best environment to treat myself to more muscle. I want to weigh around 200 lbs with two large shields for pecs and abs that are uncomfortable for a woman to rest her head on. I must grow my legs so my body looks proportionate. My legs are the worst. I've played sports all my life and even ran college track, but I have some chicken legs! Ughh, thanks to Grandma, RIP.
to build mass, definitely 4 to 8 reps. and when i first started i used to do large muscle groups twice a week. it definitely helps to build all around mass.
Personally i prefer to gain muscle while staying lean. just make sure you go heavy at the gym. and when it comes to diet, stick to lean and high protein and stay away form fats and simply carbs. this should help you get the results you need.
