I got tired of being skinny with a gut. I went into my college gym and proceeded to do everything wrong, but I was persistent and the more experienced guys helped me out with tips.

He motivates me to believe that life can begin after 40+. I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish when I'm in my retirement phase and can just take care of my body.
What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
Tried to workout like the pros and the biggest guys in the gym

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Study everything you can about how this stuff affects your body so you put yourself in the position to design workout programs for yourself instead of having to read magazines to try what worked for some other guy.Study everything you can about how this stuff affects your body so you put yourself in the position to design workout programs for yourself instead of having to read magazines to try what worked for s...more
I do a heavy/light training program. Check out the workout tracker and it'll show all of my workouts for the week except cardio which I've recently added back in. Having no running shoes sucks, I can thank my American Bulldog pup for that but rather than whine I've just started power walking...
Yo, I read the article a while back and was too busy to respond. My bad. I liked it though. The squat rack should be the staple of any serious home gym lifter.
Dang I would have enjoyed going to see that. I know, I didn't check. I'm being all gung ho about Georgia's strongest man in June. Last year's made me want to go and dead 600 lbs. LMAO, luckily I haven't tried that insanity just yet. Plus I think the people at the gym would look at me funny.
LMAO, the hardcore wrestlers bridge where you just balance on your head. If I bridged seriously, I'd definitely race you to get there.
However, although I did do deadlifts earlier today, I might go again tonight just to try that bridge in between sets. Remind myself to get a mat when I get there.
That sounds insane but oh so, helpful.
man you bridging these days too? Geez ...
I haven't attempted that in so long. damned lack of carpet is why I haven't done it yet while looking at the new pic.
Ha ha, well, man. Congrats ...
and you reached that basic goal of yours to drop waist size by 1 inch. So what's next?
Oh, the 18" arms, 17" calves, 61" chest, and the rest of that stuff?
Hey man, I tried the tips you gave me on my deadlift today, the one about getting a better grip helped a lot, I got an extra 3 reps out, thanks man, keep training hard
Eh! Regarding your potential home gym additions- I love the power blocks. mine go up to 90lbs. and there's this corner unit called the EPIC CTS. it has all pulley attachments, costs $999.99 at Costco, but looks worth it
Man, I feel your pain now.
Ha ha, and this is why at the moment I have no suits worth wearing. I say to myself "eh, I'm going to stabilize my size one of these days and go shopping for some."
LMAO ... but that day isn't anytime this year so I'm screwed.
Man, so I see. Glad you're still here in the world of the training. If you weren't, I'd be like "damn, another one has left us".
Ha ha, I'm loving the long term goals by the way but eh, I think I want more. Also good to see work isn't getting in the way.
Man, still lifting? Of course I'm still lifting. Its like my life or something. I don't have too much else to do besides come up with stuff.
I haven't heard a peep out of you in ages. Where the heck you been at?
Good question is Are you still lifting?
One of us is gonna have to make a trip sooner or later.
Man, those arms have gotten huge as all hell. Keep up the good work. It looks like the training is going well. What all do you have in that basement in dallas?
Man it's all been a crazy blur this year with no time. I barely squeeze gym time in but it is there and I guard that time like it's one of my children! Good to see you're gettn' in some bb.com time how's it going in your neck of the world?
