When I Started:
Jan, 2008
How I Started:
Id been messing about with weights for a few years and never really doing or sticking to anything. A girlfriend broke up with me at Christmas 07 and i decided to put that emotion into working out a lot instead of drinking a lot.
Why I Love It:
I love that I'm actually doing something to change myself and that its working.
How I Stay Motivated:
For the first year it was easy, this was something new. Now im in year two and my motivation is coming form seeing results in my arms and chest, feeling stronger and happier in myself.
I want arms so big i need specially made shirts, the strength of a Viking and a body fat so small people wonder if i eat real food (which of course i will)!
Goal (Long):
Overall, i want to be huge. Step 1 it to get a Movie Star body, big and toned with low body fat. After that, i want a clean bulk to get as huge as i can. I want to look like a Viking who just stepped onto these fair shores from his long boat, centuries ago, would look.
I want to be so huge i wills care small children. So it'll probably involve a lot of dead lifts, squats and bench pressing. 5x5's are the current plan for then. We shall see.
My ritual is to then have a quick comparison from where i started to now, then go over them all to see the development. You know what, i love this. I really do. This is one of the few things in my life i put effort into and that i get such a huge sense...
Yeah, I'm not complaining about my results. Feeling good right now and I have three weeks to go. Sorry to hear about the injuries. Hope they don't keep you out of the game too long.
The diet's going good. I usually have rolled oats for breakfast, chicken & salad wraps for lunch and fruit for snacks. You're right, I definitely feel better every day for it too. How's your training going?
Thanks - lovely words! With injury be careful, if you don't give enough time in the long run for things to heal, you'll be plagued with aches and pains for life :( I learnt that the hard way.. Keep me posted on progress though :))
Wow - thanks for adding me to your "inspiration" list. I'm flattered more than you can know - but I'm not really "amazing" you know, just incredible (and modest, hahaha!).
Hi Chris, wow that is amazing that you find me an inspiration, thank you I feel real honoured! How are you doing by the way? In those specially made shirts yet? Take care, Leila xox
With each new addition comes a new set of stressors. But it's exciting. I just won't be able to accomplish everything that I would like to in regard to my own selfish physique goals.
Oddly enough, now that I'm trying to bulk I'm actually losing weight! But, if I end up more defined that's okay too. How are you doing with your goals - having trouble fitting your arms into sleeves yet?
I'm doing good. Sticking with the program. I'm not a big fan of supplements after reading Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle by Tom Venuto. But if you do feel you're getting results, that's great. So which football club do you support?
Thanks. Good to hear. Good luck. Remember it is good to set a day aside to not work out and to treat yourself too something. No smoking though. LOL But I will do pizza and chips on my off day. It helps keep me from feeling like I'm denying myself too much.
Thanks champ. I easily forget diet mistakes I've made in the past. Writing the blog has already been a helpful reminder in that area of my fitness plan.
"Drank the coolade" it means you've joined the crowd. It's in reference to a cult that all poisioned themselves using coolade in some ritual act. Nothing negative, just means you've accepted a lifestyle or way of thinking that is against your past norm. Since most people think you're crazy for accepting a fitness oriented lifestyle it kinda fits. lol
Not that tough if you approach it with a different attitude. If you want to lose the fat obscuring your muscle tone, there aren't that many tried tested and proven techniques. If using supplements over real food hasn't worked up until now, that is a god clue! Extreme case but, when getting ready to step on stage I don't know competitors who use sugary protein powders etc, the food goes basic and if good genes are not on your side, anything with sweeteners go..
