When I Started:
Jan, 2008
How I Started:
I have always been skinny yet fairly strong when it came to lifting weights. I have never given it my 100% dedication though. That is why I am registering myself in the EAS Body For Life Challenge. My main goal is to gain mass, 24lbs to be exact. However, right now I just want to complete the 12 week challenge without cutting any corners. I feel I owe that to myself.
Why I Love It:
I believe everyone needs an out. Some form of break from the daily grind. I love the "release" I feel when I'm working out. I love the challenge, the pressure I put on myself to make it through a tough set and behond.
How I Stay Motivated:
My scale, the way I look in a mirror, the way my clothes fit tighter than before. This website is a huge motivator.
I also remember when I was younger, 2-3yrs old I could not walk. I started and then just stopped. Long story short, I went through a handful of surgeries, muscle biopsies, etc. The doctors found nothing. Get this, their diagnosis was "total body weakness". They said It was an issue with my muscles, an issue nobody could figure out. I went through years of physical therapy, with the guidance of an outstanding therapist. After time and hard work, I was able to walk, run, jump, and play like a normal kid again. Part of me stays motivated when I remember those times. I remember that skinny kid with a walker in pre-1st grade struggling to keep up and it keeps me going when I need it.
BB Accomplishments:
Completed Body For Life Challenge (round #1, 2008). More to come.....
I am on day 28 of my second BFL Challenge and I feel great! After a short struggle period I am back full swing. My weight is up close to 175lbs, my weights and cardio sessions are awesome, and I am smoke free.
I do wonder what next after this challenge even though I am only at day 28. ...
Hi :)..just read your blog comment, I don't know what model contest you mean (?) but thank you for the compliment! :) good luck w/your competition training
Welcome and glad to help. However, no more of those panic attacks over such things. You've done a great so far and not worth fretting over a simple meal or workout. Won't affect you. Many more things important in life like family and freinds. AND compete later? WHY NOT. Would be fun to watch. Best of luck in all. Andre
GREAT JOB!!! I'm so glad that you quit smoking too. There are definitely times where it's more difficult than others, but I have such a great support system that it's gone pretty well. Good luck with your goals in 2008!
Thanks for the add, best of luck for the challenge and keep the old pic, solid reminder to yourself of what hard work and solid motivation can do. Great for the morale. Andre
Welcome and certainly congrats on all front.Profile pic showing impressive gains in both muscle and definition. Will keep an eye on your progress. Andre
I did a 12 week challenge to myself but read about all the 12 week challenges out there. I follow similar eating plans however I don't care for the workout split in body for life. I hear it works wonders though. Good luck with it.
