Started losing weight (used to be 5'7, 224.5lbs with no muscle) in April 2005 when I started using a treadmill and stopped eating cafeteria food at my high school.
Started lifting to kill the "freshman 15" I got in my first year of college (Sept06) and I just gradually got more serious about it. Found a gym friend at school who knew a lot about it, did a lot of reading and joined the forums here.
Why I Love It:
Because I've been hearing "You've lost weight," consistently since April 05.
It's extremely gratifying to go to the doctor and hear that you're very healthy. For 17 years, I couldn't say that. Now I can.
How I Stay Motivated:
Seeing results, setting PR's.
BB Accomplishments:
Not being a tub anymore is pretty handy.

About two months after first started lifting. Hadn't really made that much progess, just got rid of extra fat I put on at the beginning of the year.
I have no pics of me without a shirt on before I started cardio, but this pic is after I'd already come down from 224.5lbs.

Goal (Long):
Get a boxing match before the end of 2009. Pro MMA fight by end of 2011. Double-bodyweight squat, 1.5xBW clean and jerk, 1xBW snatch, 1.5xBW bench/row. Under 12 seconds 100m, under 6 seconds 40m.
Started oly-style training last week. Did 3 workouts -- snatch, c+j, front squats, and dips the first time then pull-ups the second and nothing the last, upping the weight on front squats instead.
Definitely need to work on the 2nd pull for both lifts, as well as the depth at which I catch...
Split up into separate technique and assistance days.
Technique days to work on the classical lifts (snatch, clean + jerk) and a squat variation (front or back) med. intensity and one accessory lift.
Assistance days are for working the classical lifts...

Thanks for backing me up. Huge improvement in appearance and obviously health. I've got to get the bf% down to a healthy level, so you are an inspiration. Good luck with all your goals. Will be watching out for your progress.
