There's actually a technique to it. Balance them on an edge and let them fall back into your hands. Then row it up into your lap (or if light enough just sort of do a clean up to your shoulder). Once it is on your lap get your arms under and kind of clean/squat it up. Once you get the feel you can handle some big stones. I'm sure you got the horsepower.

Cold, it's always cold here. That's why I like it. When are you going to get a picture there?

Thank you and congrats on the DL, that is incredible. I have a throwing friend that lives in Dublin. She is a real sweetheart.

decided to take a little time off. I have some non lifting related surgery coming up in a week that will take some recovery so i figure I'll take it as a sign to back off for a bit. I'm also going to try to figure out how to better prepare for an entire season of throwing.

Hey there, glad you're sticking around the forum. You have been a very good addition! I'm going to be pestering you to try throwing rocks and sticks at some point. If I remember you were talking about giving Heavy Events a try some day. You would kick arse.

I see you are from NH. There is a great group of stone lifters/Highland Games guys in that area (Concord). Check out www.newenglandstrength.com if you get a chance. Have a good time, finding the stones is always fun.

Sorry it took me so long to look at the program. Looks good! You might want to try adding some power/speed moves when you get closer to your first games. Some power cleans, snatches and either jerks or push presses. Ask on the nasga page and sure you'll get lots of help. Also, I saw your response to my WSM thread over there. Glad to know I wasn't the only one glued to my TV all that night. Take care, and I'm insanely jealous you'll get to throw so much sooner than I will.

I saw that you were, but I think if my part of New York was annexed by Canada no one would know the difference. When I try to explain to people (US friends) where I live now, the response is usually something like...."Do you live by Niagara Falls?" Eventually I just give up and tell them I moved to Canada. If it wasn't for your Loonie killing me right now I might as well.

Thanks, good luck things. I see you once won Mr. Ottawa. I actually live pretty close to there. We might as well be Canadians.

Baab is hilarious. I hope I get to meet him in person this year. Keep on hitting that 5x5, if you ever need advice along the 5x5/Bill Starr sort of program I reccomend asking the guy known as Skullsplitter on NASGA. He was trained by Starr for years and he has given me some of the programs he used. Skullsplitter also writes for Milo quite a bit. I have one of the programs here if you are ever interested. It's a butt kicker, simple but brutal.

Thanks, I was terrible at keeping a workout log and then found this. Not sure if you have found this site already but if not go to nasgaweb.com they have a very active talkboard and schedule of events around North America.
