When I Started:
1986
How I Started:
I started Shotokan karate training at the age of 13. However, weight lifting and martial arts did not seem compatible to most instructors at the time. One day, I saw a Jean-Claude Van Damme commercial for Bloodsport and I realized that martial artists could lift weights and be muscular also. I started working out with paint cans in my basement and would hang them on the end of a broom stick to do curls. Finally, I got a small Weider weight set for the garage and started lifting weights with my buddy. When I started high school, I joined the weight training class and started an organized strength program. I have been dedicated to lifting ever since and have only stopped due to injuries. In college, I started bodybuilding and even competed once in a local show and won. Now, at 36, I'm thinking about doing it again!
Why I Love It:
As a kid, I always wanted to be a superhero. I work as a police officer and train as a bodybuilder...I guess that's the closest I can get.
How I Stay Motivated:
BB Accomplishments:
Overall winner Mr. Greek Physique, 1992

Goals:
Main Goal:
Compete
Goal (Overall):
I want to begin competitive bodybuilding. I want to start with a summer 2010 show
Goal (Long):
I want to compete in bodybuilding. I started this when I was in high school and was able to compete once in college, winning first place. After college, everytime I attempted to train for a competition, something would interfere. I had a herniated disc in 1995 which took me out of getting ready for a show. My mother started her battle with cancer in 1998, which prevented me from getting ready for the Caveman and Mr. Missouri in 99 and 2000. Then just last year, in February, i decided I would do a show, but herniated the same disc again! I am back into training again and my desire has not changed. I am attempting to put on some more size over the next year and then I will start contest prep for summer 2010. I've solicited the help of Dave Palumbo on diet and supplements and have already gained about 8 pounds in the first month and around 25 pounds altogether since September 08. Strength-wise, I plan on doing 315 for 10 on incline bench, bench 140 lb Db's for 6, shoulder press 100's for 8, behind-the-neck 225 for 10, deadlift 225 for 20, squat 315 for 20, db curl 60's for 8. I really want a look similar to Fouad Abiad or Gary Strydom.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 15 lb

You've packed on a good amount of lean mass there - good luck with the 09 shows you've got lined up.
