You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it, Anton: I never saved anything for the swim back.

Goal (Long):
My relationship with my body and its health has had many ups and downs over the years. Joining the military in 1992, I shot up from a 139 lb boy to a lean 165 lb man in the course of 8 weeks of Basic Training. Unfortunately, my youth and inexperience in training slowly led me to packing on weight until I ballooned up to 205 lbs a few years later.
At 27, I decided to diet and lose the weight, which I did through crash dieting (and no exercising), and lost about 40 lbs in 3 months. Afterwards, I started working out again and although I went through periods of taking it seriously, I never really committed to it long term. I did pack on muscle and get relatively lean (10% bodyfat at one point), I was always the guy doing upper body exercises and always seemed find an excuse to not go the gym on my lower body days. As a result, I never got the results I wanted and of course lost interest after a year or two.
Now, hitting my mid 30's, and back to being fat again (up to 195 lbs and 25.5% bodyfat), and decided one weekend in February to do something about it (right around my birthday). I picked up Bill Philips Body for Life book and followed his 12 week challenge meticulously. Over the course of that program, through eating right, intense lifting and cardio, and most importantly the support and encouragement of my wife/best friend, I transformed my body. Here are my results:
Weight - Start: 194 lbs
Weight - End: 172 lbs
Total Lost: 22 lbs
Bodyfat - Start: 49.5 lbs (25.5%)
Bodyfat - End: 19 lbs (11%)
Total Lost: 30.5 lbs
Lean Body Mass - Start: 144.5 lbs (74.5%)
Lean Body Mass - End: 153 lbs (89%)
Total Gained: 8.5 lbs
My original goals were to lose 25 pounds of bodyfat and gain 10 pounds of muscle, which at the time I thought was possibly a bit to aggressive. As it turns out, I came very close by overshooting my bodyfat loss goal and coming close to my muscle weight goal. Funny how close you can come to your goals even if they seem to be a stretch at first….
Now that I have finished BFF, I want to move onto something more advanced. I am starting a program (HIAH by Chad Waterbury) on June 22nd, and my goals over the next 16 weeks will be to gain an additional 12 lbs of lean muscle mass, and to maintain my bodyfat at no more than 19/20 lbs. Once I do that, I want to lean up over the course of the rest of the year, and by the end of the year lose 8 lbs of bodyfat to finish me off at 176 lbs at 6.25% bodyfat.
It's amazing to see someone make that kind of transformation at an age where people typically slow down. INstead of slowing down, this guy turned back time. Good job!
David. Nice work you've done so far! Keep it up and train hard. You may want to check out my bodyblogs. They offer some good advice of bbing. Add me to you members "inspired" lost if you like. Best to ya again. ed aka Ol Supe
