When I Started:
How I Started:
I use to date an ex-boxer and he saw a lot of potential in my skinny butt. He became my personal trainer. When he got sick and nearly died he dropped 70 pounds and lost all his muscles. The medical staff said his working out so much and having so much muscle mass to begin with helped saved his life. A year later, he's bulked back up again and continues to be an inspiration to me, even though we don't talk anymore.
Why I Love It:
I love the ultimate look I get from all my hard work. It takes time, but it is definitely worth it. People consistently think I am 10-15 years younger than I am when I'm in good shape. At 50, that really makes me feel good. Plus, the people at the gym are like the best support group a person could have. They are caring and friendly, and they help me out with my routines and stuff so I can achieve my goals. I feel very relaxed there.
How I Stay Motivated:
I get really down on myself if I ignore going for my workout. Sometimes it's really hard to get myself to the gym in time to workout, but I think about how much better I feel mentally and physically once I've worked out and that gets me going. I feel really guilty if I don't go-- I hate that feeling.
BB Accomplishments:
I was to the point where I was squatting 300# and looking hot. Then, I had a heart attack and things kind of went to he*# I'm back in the gym again. Even though the doctor gave me a long not-to-do list, I have not let it stop me. I may never get to the point where I'm squatting that much again... but, I didn't give up! For me, that's a great accomplishment!
