When I Started:
Mar, 2002
How I Started:
It was a time in my life when I was going through a lot of stress in my personal life and work. I used working out as an outlet for that stress and anxiety and it worked wonders! Been hooked since.
Why I Love It:
Not only is it great for me physically, but the emotional benefits are a plus, too. The confidence, compliments, self-esteem and just overall well-being that accompany a fit physique cannot be equaled. All sorts of social barriers were torn down once I reaped the benefits of working out. My then newfound passion also helped me obtain a new career in fitness and inspired me to leave a job in healthcare (nursing homes) that I no longer enjoyed.
How I Stay Motivated:
My image in the mirror, the wonderful remarks and compliments I receive on a daily basis, my heightened mental alertness, flexibility & strength improvements, and just how great I feel every day in general are more than enough to keep me motivated! Simply put, the results of my hard work ARE the motivator!
BB Accomplishments:
Hmmmm...that's a good question. Well, the first time I was able to perform one un-assisted pull-up was a major accomplishment for me. I cried!

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
Distal biceps tendonitis and (R) shoulder impingement. I recovered from the tendonitis within a few days of administering R.I.C.E., but the impingement stuck with me for a few weeks and I worked through it by just performing ROM exercises at first and gradually reintroducing progressive weights.Distal biceps tendonitis and (R) shoulder impingement. What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Improper form, too much weight and insufficient warm-up/cooldown/stretching.
Thank you so much for that wonderful compliment and also for the gift of your friendship. It is very motivational, I appreciate it. I am in month 7 of my transformation, and I wish you all the best with yours.
