Throughout my studies in Kinesiology as an undergrad at JMU I exercised on and off with no real direction or goals. After a year of graduate school studying exercise physiology and personal training for almost two years at Gold’s Gym, I decided it was time to get serious about exercise and my physical appearance. I put my education to good use and began to train myself the way I was training others. Wanting to set an example and live what I preached (not to mention my Spring Break ’08 trip to Cancun), I have lost 20lbs since January 2008 and decreased my body fat from 28% to 19%. Now I am hooked! Exercise and clean eating have become routine and I love every minute of it!
Why I Love It:
I love to exercise because it makes me feel better about myself. I get excited when I am able to lift heavier than before, I love to go shopping and buy a size small, and knowing that I am in great shape makes me happy! I also enjoy meeting other people that share a passion for working out and being a gym rat.
How I Stay Motivated:
I am striving to be the best that I can be; to attain my definition of perfection. I also stay motivated through friends and clients.
I have decided to compete in a figure show next year, so my main goal over the next few months is to increase muscle mass. I want to build up my shoulders and arms before the 12 week out prep. I plan to focus on lifting heavy and eating right! I would like to get down to 10-13% body fat for the show, maybe lower...

hey, girl! you should totally compete. I'm planning on doing it again in november in d.c. for the Yorton Cup. My trainer was amy kessler (has a site here on bodyspace) and her email is am_kessler@yahoo.com. she's great and very strict. be prepared for a competition nazi....no cheats at all. go for it. it's a great feeling....so much so that I think it may be a life style for us. let me know if you need anything else. :)
