When I Started:
How I Started:
I have worked out all my life. I was a cheerleader and gymnast throughout school. I started lifting weights at 16 in gym class and was immediately hooked. I was one of the only girls that could climb the peg board up and down (no swinging)three times. I was better than most of the guys. That in itself was motivation!!
I have always had a passion for exercise and have always considered myself to be in good shape. Even though I hovered around a size 4-6, I had fallen into a lazy mode and was a skinny fat girl. I often would not eat well balanced meals and used starvation as a means to stay thin. I exercised only sporaticly and used my poor diet to keep me in small sizes. Last Spring of 2006 I was tired of hovering...I wasn't fat but not in great shape either. I soon renewed my reading of Oxygen Magazine and I immediately had an epiphany...I said to myself..."I can do that and I want to be on stage!" I immediately immersed myself in competition research. I used the internet to its fullest to learn everything I could to get me on stage. Through divine intervention, I met my trainer and I began a diet and exercise regime to get on stage in a 9 week period. I placed 2nd and I wanted more! It has been one year since I first competed and I have competed three times, each time taking home some hardware and even a tiara. I am focused more than ever and I am presently creating a whole new package. Watch for me on a stage near you!
Why I Love It:
I enjoy bodybuilding because I have complete control over my body. When I look in the mirror and see awesome results I know that it is all because I did it. I am the one that put in the effort and that is a cool feeling.
Working out is also a great stress reliever and it is a healthy hobby not to mention it keeps me away from the mall!
How I Stay Motivated:
To me, staying motivated is a mental game. When I am tired or feel like cheating, I ask myself this question, "what are the other girls doing right now, how hard are they working?" Thinking of that keeps me headed in the right direction and on my toes.
Also, I don't want to regret not working hard enough. Come showtime, if I have done what is expected through training and diet and I feel I have done my best then a loss is easier to swallow; I can use that for motivation to do better the next time. However, if there was more I could do or I slacked in anyway then losing would be harder to swallow. I don't want to regret.

2nd place in the 5'2-5'4 figure division,2006 Northwest Bodybuilding Championships.
