I grew up playing basketball and living on a cattle ranch in MT. I have always been athletic, then sometime during my Senior year in high school, I became interested in weight lifting. I started getting serious about it when I was 19 years old, but was a vegetarian! I worked out ALL the time, had a great figure, but not much to it. :)
So, I continued to workout, incorporated chicken and fish back into my diet and dreamed about being a figure competitor.
Then one day I decided, "Now is my time." .... more to THAT story.
Why I Love It:
It is the ONE thing that only I have 100% control over. It makes me feel great, boosts my self esteem and I like that it is a sport I can do on my own. I love to jam on a baseball cap, noise-reduction headphones and some good Ozzy Osbourne to get me through my routine.
Especially great is when I DON'T want to go to the gym, but I drag myself there and afterward I say to myself, "YOU DID IT!"
How I Stay Motivated:
Knowing I can always do better and that I don't want to look unprepared on stage. Also, when majority of the population is obese or "skinny fat", it is nice to be the fit one in the crowd.
BB Accomplishments:
After 14 years of wanting to compete - I finally made it happen. The only reason I started is I found the right trainer...amazing what the right coach can do for you!
Forum Signature:
Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.
