My Workout Philosophy View My Full Workout Program

DO what you like. If you are a tech geek, bring a gadget to the gym if it helps you...but if you are easily distracted, keep it simple.

Too many people always ask me, "what's the best workout for...x". And I just say, goto a website with lots of workouts and pick one.  If the person is a powerlifter or aspiring to be one, then the answer would be...go find a power lifter to hang out with...bodybuilder or fitness chic? Ditto.

Are you really new? Are you a natural lifter?  I never had to have anyone show me how to lift when I was 10...but some of us do need some initial instruction so don't be afraid to hit up those people that appear friendly and in shape (caveat emptor, some are in shape but are dumb like hammer) and have others coming to them for advice....if you have the means, hire a qualified, successful (if your a girl, pick one that's geeky but in shape...better chance he won't be a dawg haha!) personal trainer.  Interview a couple or more before you choose and also, you can get a free trial workout from each!  Cha-ching!

Have fun, even when I was competing at a high level, I was aLways enjoying the gym and never walking around with a big scowl on my mug the size of my delts...  If its not fun, take up fishing if that floats your boat.  You will get lots of upper back and posterior chain work of you row a boat to the fishing hole! ;)

Anyway, this was fun...

Join the insulin resistance!

It's wacky, wild and fun to do...but I don't recommend that beginners even attempt to eat how I personally eat.   I'd say it is closest to the "warrior" style diet...I have no desire to be 250 lb and 8% anymore...I maintain with no effort at all 185 lb, 7-8% bf...it's all in controlling your insulin levels and not over consuming on a regular basis.  The more people you speak to and non-mainstream information you read, the more you realise it's more about the person than the diet....most "diets" work, but the application of them escapes most people...there are many reasons for this, one of them being the fact that our tiny ego is about 2000 bit per second processor and the big one in the back (subconscious) is 9,000,000,000 (hmmm, is that 9 billion?) bps processor....which one do you think win in a battle the majority of the time?   :). Food for thought....

JOIN THE INSULIN RESISTANCE!

Seeing as the most important thing (well, in my mind anyway, you might have other stuff on yours!) when it comes to training and supplementation is INSULIN CONTROL.  Why? Cell signaling is number one in the human body...we're a huge collective of cells!...and insulin being the oldest kind most crucial hormone that controls all the others as well as brain chemicals etc...it would perhaps be wise to start delving into justwhat makes a muscle grow...ever see a guy with huge upper body and no legs?  Sometimes it's not for lack of wanting or trying but rather a lack of signal strength.  If your myofacial net and insulin signaling system are not in syncsand well balanced, there are lots of things you can do to improve the flow of energy/signals/blood/nutrients (they all work together in harmony folks...miss out on one, lose the others)

Top supps:

1) opc's in pycnogenol form ( the only one to get has that little "R" in a circle). What's not to like?  Increased NO, mops up 50 ROS species, anti-inflammatory, 200+ peer reviewed studies?!?! Again...what's not to like.  Google " American botanical pinus pinastur...aka pine bark extract.  Horphag institute supplies the good stuff to all the companies with legit, quality opc products.

2) glutathione(vitc +NAC 2:1 ratio for max glutAthlon production...can't hurt to have as much of the universal cellular antioxidant in your system now can it:)

3) Bcaa's

4) krill/fish oil stack better together

5) Greens supplement. Nthere are crap piles...make it nont gmo with no  erAftertaste...progressive makes a good one..

Dammit, iPad sucks for posting!!!:)

It's not about what you want...it's about programming

Saying you want something and actually becoming what you want are two very different things.  Immerse ur self in the dream...breath it, dream it....then go do it.  Success is only stringing as the picture you hold of it in your minds eye...

Etrain2330 created a new BodyBlog entry "No use taking supps if your diet is not under control..".

If you don't have your iip's under control, forget about buying supplements! If insulin is not partitioning the nutrients in the correct way and communicating with the rest of your cells and hormones/brain chemicals, you won't get any benefit from the supplements.   As an example, ever notice that people with diabetes are also prone to osteoporosis? That's because insulin directs the deposit of cal/mag to the long bones...oops...no matter how much calcium they take, it just gets lost... Go to BodyBlog

Etrain2330 created a new BodyBlog entry "Great read on insulin...not just for glucose removed...".

If insulin is the oldest hormone...that makes him the granddaddy of them all...glucose storage and removal is an afterthought for this giant of e cellular signaling community... Interesting how there are so many systems to increase blood sugar...and only insulin as a sledgehammer for lowering it...perhaps because we never had a need for lowering blood sugar? Hmmmm. Here is a great transcript of a speech given by dr. Ron Rosedale... http://www.gregdavis.ca/share/Required%20Reading/Insulin%20and%2... Go to BodyBlog

Reason: Jason inspires me because he did not grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth and has worked through injuries and persevered to get a scholarship for baseball! He is an amazing all rounder in baseball and his work ethic is great! Coaching him in diet and training has been awesome!

jfukumoto26 The link didn't work. Do you think this would be a good program to follow?! As I mentioned before I've been using the same template for my workout which is 2-3 upper lifts a week and 1-2 lower. For upper I do 5 sets of bench, back exercise, shoulder press, and biceps. I would like to mix it up to get more results Mar 23, 2013 3:22pm

jfukumoto26 So what do you think of that program? Also, what do you suggest I do for my chest as it is underdeveloped, and unproportional to the rest of my upper body-definitely a weakness I want to make a strength Mar 16, 2013 5:23pm
