How I Started:
I am a competitive triathlete and spinning instructor. Love to compete, train and motivate others.
Ran my first full marathon in 1992, so celebrating 17 years of competitive running. Also 17 years of being with my husband :-)
Why I Love It:
Love the feeling of being strong inside and out. Addicted to the endorphins I get from training and teaching and seeing my body get better and better with age. Love life !
How I Stay Motivated:
Love to work out - the way I feel when and after I work out is motivation enough - it never feels like something I HAVE to do - I always WANT to !!
BB Accomplishments:
Finished top 10 in age group in every race I've entered this year. Won local 5K, placed 3rd overall in Mermaid Triathlon (missed second by 1second!!), raced hard this year !!! Training for Ironman 70.3 Hawaii next year but want a new challenge in the meantime :-)

What EstherHare Is Up To:
Nov 11, 2009
EstherHarechanged Weight from 156.5 lbs. to 153.2 lbs., a 3.3 lb. loss in 82 days
I know this isn't the worst place to start, but I really need to lean out especially my inner and outer thighs and tighten up a lot. I have the working out down pat - its nutrition that I really need to work on.
Yep - there is definitely some work to do leaning out and tightening and toning - a little 'juicy' just like it says right on the bikini :-)
Be the best that I can be to compete in the NPC Sacramento Bikini Division on Nov 6/7th, 2009 :-)
Goal (Long):
I am currently a competitive triathlete and spinning instructor- finished top 10 in my age group in every race this year. Won local 5K, placed third overall in Mermaid triathlon, and am currently training for Ironman 70.3 Hawaii next year. I train with Kevin Myles who is a great figure and bikini coach and I have a bunch of friends who compete. I am trying to make the switch to compete in Bikini at the Sacramento Show on November 6/7th this year. 11 weeks away :-)
Besides being an avid athlete and fitness fanatic, I am also a mom, wife, boss, cook, cleaner and friend and I juggle a million things a day. I am also a lifelong vegetarian, and so part of the reason for competing is to challenge myself to improve my nutrition. I eat 90% super clean, and 10% crap (LOL - wine, chocolate and cheese are my downfalls :-)
I want to get down to my Drivers License fictitious weight of 142lbs (I'm 5'11") - wait, everyone quotes their ideal weight on their drivers license right :-) LOL !!!!
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 13 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
Upcoming Contest:
NPC Sacramento Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped or hurt your relationship?
Same as parentling. Exercise calms the mind, strengthens the body and empowers the soul. All things you need to be a great soul mate, friend and support system for your significant other. My hubby was a pro soccer player, a purple belt in Jiu-jitsu and plays ice hockey, rock climbs etc. This year he started training for triathlon with me and it has been great to train for the same events after 17 years of supporting each other in different sports. We encourage, motivate and support each other and fitness is the backbone of our healthy relationship. He's also my favorite and most consistent spinning student (and I secretly love being the boss and screaming orders at him for the hour twice a week - just kidding - LOL !!!)Same as parentling. Are you a parent?
Yes
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you to be a better parent?
How else could you carry two children (weighing 120lbs between them) a purse, a diaper bag, and three bags of groceries from the store to the car - frequently !!!
Seriously, as a parent it is empowering to feel strong like you could take care of them physically not just emotionally in most situations. And as a runner, I am so much more patient and sweet with my kids after I have battered the pavement with all the emotional baggage of work and life. Endorphins are key to surviving the more challenging parts of parenting - staying even keel when you kid is lying on the floor of Target screaming their head off - yes its hard, but you need to be strong in your body, your convictions, and your calmness to deal with a three year old !!!How else could you carry two children (weighing 120lbs between them) a purse, a diaper bag, and three bags of groceries from the store to the car - frequently !!!

Since you've been working out, taking supplements and eating right, how often do you get sick (cold, flu, etc.)?
I stopped by to say that you look absolutely incredible! You have the body that so many want but are not willing to put the effort into developing. You should be complimented on your dedication, determination as well as achievement. You are a fantastic inspiration to others. Being downright gorgeous doesn't hurt either. Stay strong, focused and determined & may God bless.
good luck with your transformation. i just started 1 wk after my 50th birthday. i have a very very long way to go. hope after 16 wks i have some good pics to show
