How I Started:
When I was in junior high and high school I used to be involved in gymnastics, tae kwon do, and dance. However my diet was awful and I never benefited from these workouts, although I did enjoy them. After going to college my workout routines started to become very random, if at all. I just finished graduate school in December 2007 and want to get back into shape. I decided to design a workout routine for myself that involved both weight training and cardio. I also attend Kwando (like Tae Bo) and Yoga classes to keep myself motivated and to add variety to my workouts.
Why I Love It:
I love the energy I get from working out. I also like to feel strong. Although my body is not where I want it to be, I know with time I will achieve my goals. Working out is not easy and sometimes it can be quite boring but I try to keep a positive attitude and I love seeing results from my hard work.
How I Stay Motivated:
Honestly, I took pictures of myself in a bathing suit, which left me quite speechless. I was in absolute horror of how I have let my body become so unhealthy. The camera doesn't lie and I know I needed to get in shape fast. I also have extremely low blood presure which causes my heart to palpitate which is my body's way of accommodating for the loss of pressure. It's nothing serious but I don't want it to become worse in the future. I know that amping up my cardio workouts will help control this problem.
BB Accomplishments:
So far I designed a workout routine that includes both cardio and weight training. I am already starting to feel strong and healthier.

This picture is similar to the one taken back in January. No flexing involved. I have already lost a significant amount of fat in two months.
I want to lose weight, gain muscle, and live a healthier life style.
Goal (Long):
I want to increase my cardiac endurance. It's honestly sad when there are women over 50 in my classes that are keeping up with the routines better than I am. They are also stronger, lifting more weight and completing more reps. I feel weak, out of shape, and I need to gain control of my body again. My biggest goal is to build up my cardiac endurance enough so that I can join martial arts again. A few years ago I re-joined my old Tae Kwon Do class and at the time I was also a smoker, needless to say the classes didn't last long and I dropped out. The last time I attended class I had a major blackout and had to sit out for the rest of the class. This blackout included temporary shortness of breath, loss of hearing and vision. It was pretty scary. I absolutely love martial arts and I want to join again, however I don't want to go into it half heartedly. I know I need to build my confidence, endurance, and center myself mentally. That is my ultimate goal.
It was great to read the comments you left me. Thank you so very much for writing. I am astounded by way the Lord gets His messages across. I believe that if you feel a true passion about something then the Lord will assist you in achieving it and if you can then go out and through Him inspire others, He will smile as you do “God’s work.”
Believe and you will achieve.
Congratulations on making the decision to get fit. Always challenge yourself to be the best that you can be. Combine a good nutrition plan with some form of cardio and weight lifting and you will be amazed at the changes and the speed at which they can occur. My wife (bodyspace name: judimax) and I did the Body for Life program, which is for a total of 12 weeks and received amazing results. You may want to give it a look-see. Stay strong and all the best.
