How I Started:
I started bodybuilding in high school. Like many others I had no idea what I was doing at the time, I just wanted to be bigger. I got frustrated with lack of gains over the years and quit for some time, and picked back up later. I didn't really get into bodybuilding much until I figured out how to do it properly. I pretty much did everything you could wrong originally. I tended to overtrain and workout 7 days a week, not diet well, my splits were messed up, and I did the exercises incorrectly. After some trial and error, and doing some reading and watching the pro's do it, I began to understand bodybuilding. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable, but I still have much more to learn, and I am as anxious as ever.
Why I Love It:
I love the pump I get from bodybuilding, and I love leaving every bit of energy I have left in the gym. I'm addicted to the clanging of iron early in the morning, and there's nothing like a heavy leg workout on Monday morning to start the week. I love the feeling of your muscles being completely exhausted, and knowing that 6 days later it'll be worth it and they'll be bigger than ever. After an off day I am antsy to get back in the gym and lift some more. I love how success in bodybuilding comes from dedication, intelligence, hard work, perseverance, and solid nutrition. I love the challenge, the dedication, and the commitment needed to succeed.
How I Stay Motivated:
I stay motivated by results. I love seeing the scale go up, and the body fat go down. I like watching people's heads turn when you walk by, and the comments that they say to each other. I'd hate for the results to go away so I keep at it. I really enjoy the pump that goes with working out, and the energy required to put in that hour of grueling lifting.
BB Accomplishments:
No real accomplishments. I'm not sure if I ever plan on competing. I have gained 16 lbs. in under 4 months and only put on 1% body fat though. I've already changed from that tall scrawny guy in high school to that guy that really sticks out now a days.

I'd like to gain muscle and strength while keeping my body fat low.
Goal (Long):
Right now I'm 207 lbs. I'd like to get up to 215 lbs or so by Spring. The areas I'm focusing on improving are my low back, calves, and chest still. My bodyfat is in the mid 8%'s which I'm perfectly happy with while bulking.
I think I may have been overtraining lately. I've been doing a 2 on 1 off split for some time now. I used to do a 3-1, and even a 4-1 split somtimes and overtrained frequently. The 2-1 split really seems to minimize overtraining, and I usually have enough energy to put in a good workout...
My workout for the most part is a 2 day on 1 off split. I train each body part once every 7 days. My training routine changes week to week, but there's a few exercises that I always include. I do 1 warm-up set for every exercise, 2 working sets, and 1 set to failure with either drop sets...
Watch out man Youre packing on weight to fast for it to be muscle. I did the same thing when I started and had to cut and drop some mass to get rid of the fat. I think it set me back a little. Even if youre bulking I would do some light cardio to keep from running into this situation. I wouldnt expect to gain more than a pound a week unless youve just started taking creatine.
No prob, Eric. And YES, management of the illness is challenge enuff... and heightened with trying to keep an effective training regime. Ehhhhhh, but the results are well worth it!!!
Welcome to BodySpace Eric. That's one quality physique you have built and one killer two part leg workout you had today. Continued success with your training.
