Pops was Mr. Arizona. Grew up playing competative hockey. At the Team USA/Pro hockey level I needed to add resistance training to keep up with the speed and strength in the game.
I ended up loving how my body was changing, and ended up training mostly for appearance and confidence. Now it's an addiction, and I love improving my body and my mind with physical fitness.
Why I Love It:
Clears my head, improves my health, strength, speed, confidence, appearance.
How I Stay Motivated:
Never had a motivation problem. I feel sick and run down if I don't hit the gym.
Improve performance for Fire Academy, look leaner, harder, and gain 10 pounds of muscle.
Goal (Long):
I was up toward 225 pounds at my peak while I was still in the Marine Corps.
My deployment to Iraq left me in the gym 6 days a week, and eating nothing but care package food from my pops and my girlfriend. I seriously ate 8-10 times a day, and almost entirely tuna, beef jerky, and oatmeal. I combined these foods with MREs (meals ready to eat) whenever possible for the added calories. Those of you who went out there know that the heat and the exercise sheds pounds.
In November of 2005 I fought in Rage in the Cage here in Arizona and got whipped up at a weak 195 pounds. I had lost weight due to sickness and injury, so it wasn't a fit 195 either. So my goal was to cut back to 180 and fight again after my last deployment. About a year later I'm at 180, but plagued with rotator cuff problems and healing a broken hand.
I feel that my urge to compete in MMA has passed me by, but I don't regret losing the weight.
Now I've got a new goal and that is preparing for the Fire Academy here in Arizona this spring/summer, and I'd like to be in the best shape of my life before I start. Didn't exactly happen, but we'll see what I look like when I finish in June.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 10 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
7%

I wish you much success with your goal of becoming a fire fighter. You are looking great now and when you get to where you want to be you will be awesome.
Keep rippin' it up!
I'm not sure about competing yet. I feel good about my shape its just a few minor areas that I want to work on and attend a few shows before I decide whether I want to compete or not. My goal right now is to keep my body toned and eat right & stay healthy
My trainer is at another gym. I find it difficult to find a qualified trainer when you reach a certain point. I want to train with someone who knows what he's doing and who's going to help me get results.
