When I Started:
How I Started:
A love of fantasy and science fiction led to an admiration for the heroic physique. To be honest, Spiderman, in 2001, was the turning point for me; after I saw Tobey Maguire get buff for that movie I thought "Well if that scrawny nerd can do it then I have no excuse". That started me on a road that eventually led me to the stage.
Why I Love It:
The quality of your knowledge and discipline is reflected in your physique.
How I Stay Motivated:
BB Accomplishments:
2nd place lightweight novice 2007 NPC Indianapolis, 3rd place open lightweight.
Muscletech sponsorship and transformation.
Currently I'm prepping for the NPC Contra Costa on May 9th.
Goal (Long):
I'm competing in the Contra Costa. It's a big show, but I know I can take my class, whatever weight I end up in. I'm working with a prep coach for the first time, Layne Norton, so I know I'm going to come in my best shape ever; I have complete confidence in the quality of his knowledge. I want to compete in a national level show after the Contra Costa, possibly the Team Universe. I believe I have what it takes to be competitive on a national stage.
So I'm dug in for the last few weeks before the Indianapolis, and then two weeks after that, the Jr. Nationals. Money's been tight, but thinking about everything I've had to overcome to get this far just makes me hungrier for a win. I am going to take my weight class at the Indianapolis, there...
Wandered in here by accident BC I have a friend named Pat Spike in Portland. Mighty impressed w/ your progress. Small world; went to Stanford, knew Santa Cruz well, worked in Indiana (Notre Dame). Your latest pics look GREAT, but please skip the 'roids. Please. Not worth it. May continue on YouTube, where I accidentally saw "Spike" and dropped in. You go, guy! Good luck! Will check you out.
awesome progress man . add me to your friends list if you would. your progress is something i want to follow and emulate . i welcome and critique or tips you have I can also be reached at doobzkhq@gmail.com/ I am on a cutting diet . any tips as I am new to this . look at my profile to get details . I appreciate your help . Your physique is amazing!
Sorry, no camera with me at the Indpls. I would say you looked comparable to your current avatar pic. Upper body harder than the legs. Many of the same judges will be at the Central Indiana comp, and they like to see improvement. Keep dialing it in! U already got your NPC card, I hope u go for it!

ya he's cool, i'm signed up for just the teen division, but when i get to indy i think i'm gonna sign up for the 135 class too. wats the lowest weight class?
I am more a fan of "applied history" myself. In presentation, training and overall competitive philosophy, there is a LOT that can be gained by applying the historical. So many look at history as a novelty -- a preoccupation for fans, and little more. Meanwhile, everyone believes that crucial lessons are primarily in future research. But when I coach, there is a STRONG emphasis on balance, so history is to be treated as than just a "charming series of anecdotes."
LOL! Weider was not the primary reason the West Coast had a huge bodybuilding scene. He was comparable to Trump in the Real Estate industry of the 1980's; men who had undeniable influence, yet who were not responsible for their boom environments. The West Coast bodybuilding scene was being groomed about 30 years prior to the Weider publications arrival. A little thing called The Great Depression was more responsible.
Part of my coaching is to make sure my athletes know EVERY nuance that might effect their performance, and historical context is one of them (you'd be surprised how useful knowing WHERE the sport comes from can be in). MOST athletes do not realize that contemporary bodybuilding began here in the Northeast 40 some odd BEFORE the Venice Beach phenom. New England, NOT Cali, is the original home for the sport. We have a LONG, proud heritage here.
