What EgoTrap Is Up To

EgoTrap The swelling has gone down on my arm, and I can finally see some of the underlying damage; complete lack of tension in half the tricep.

EgoTrap created a new BodyBlog entry "Began Exercise Rehabilitation Today".

I began doing weighted rehab work today after 15 days of ice, heat, salt baths, and assisted stretching since I tore my left tricep tendon in multiple places. I did exercises that only put passive strain and tension on the tendon; literally curls and lateral raises with five pound dumbbells for sets of 50 to assist blood flow and repair. The pump (or the simple act of moving the joint) has seemed to draw some of the excess fluid from the injured area. I was pretty happy to be able to do some... Go to BodyBlog

EgoTrap My elbow is a swollen, purple mass of multiple tendon tears, but it will not require surgery. I can't do any lifting though.

EgoTrap created a new BodyBlog entry "Out of Commission for a Minimum of a Month".

I tore my left tricep and several tendons and ligaments in my elbow today. I had thoroughly warmed up, and my elbow felt fine. I went into my working sets for bench, and the elbow still felt fine. I loaded 365 on the bar for my final work set, lowered the bar approximately two inches, and everything snapped. A sudden flash of white light went through my head, and a white hot lightning bolt of pain shot through my elbow. Apparently, my body tried to slow the descent of the bar by tensing my... Pdupiano
Pdupiano I definitely forgot to consider my insulin resistance so yup I may be off base with my analysis. I did a quick search for insulin mediated glucose disposal and found a slew of papers, but I'm a bit confused on the term. Is it simply the removal of glucose in the blood stream leading to generation of glycogen or fat? The release of fatty acids would explain the extra energy, but I gotta try to find an explanation for the exhausted feeling. I'll definitely look into it after work today. Mar 21, 2013 8:33am

Pdupiano I think caffeine acts as a thermogeneic by somehow forcing your body to use up its glucose supply (almost immediately). When I first took it, I got jittery (common effect with lots of caffeine), but when I took it coupled with a low carb diet. I felt weak and exhausted, like I spent hours in the gym. If I take it along with a shake (rather than an hour before the shake), I end up jittery. People may not usually notice because their sugar content is higher than mine with a low carb diet. Pdupiano I can certainly agree with that, I actually did a similar thing back in January where I would hold off taking certain protein supplements (like muscle milk) until right before a work out due to their higher sugar content compared to others. Just out of curiosity, do you take any type of caffeine product (like hydroxycut elite which is what I take)? I can't scientifically back it up yet, but I think I've figured out how caffeine works in the body. Mar 21, 2013 3:15am

Pdupiano Once the fast is over, I have to slowly introduce food back into my system. My primary diet thereafter will be very low carb (maybe 50g?). My mistake in the past was simply thinking of low carb as a diet, but now after seeing the deleterious effects of sugar on the human body (in particular my own), it seems like the most sensible life long diet for me. brians34 Good luck to you also. I'm slowly finding myself underneath all this stuff. Losing an average of 2.5 pounds/wk. By the end of 2014 I should disappear all together. :) Mar 4, 2013 10:50am

EgoTrap I actually posted a change to 14.1%. The system screwed up the numbers. Mar 4, 2013 10:48am

Infact the English got ****ed around my the english more so then the Irish. So yea, it's all cool... I'm sure if Ireland was as powerful as America or England, we'd be also raping the rest of the world... Seems to just be the way! Anyways mate, your looking well a lot of hard work over the past two years, be interested to see where you are by the end of the summer! :) - JD Feb 12, 2013 6:55pm

TheJDFella I don't know what I'm more worried about, the fact that you know who the TD of Galway is, or the fact that I don't... But I have a hard enough trims putting on matching socks in the morning, guess vanity is not really my thing. Thanks for the friends invite, I like to follow people in this challenge. ariellec Hahah you are right about Lindsay Lohan in headlines, barf! (I live in Miami and unfortunately Kim Kardashian and Kanye moved here so it is all them, all the time, UGH.) Luckily, the seminar was actually for the local NPR affiliate, so, if I mentioned any of those people there, I'd probably get fired! hahaha Jan 30, 2013 5:44pm
