I have been playing semi-professional football for 2 seasons now. Lifting weights is a big part of that. During the season I usually lift to just maintain, and go for gains in the off season.
Why I Love It:
Its a great stress reliever and makes me feel like I accomplised something daily. Plus I don't want to be one of those big guys who don't take advantage of their size.
How I Stay Motivated:
The need and want to be healthy. Also wanting to be able to better myself in football.
"If you're mad at your kid, you can either raise him to be a nose tackle or send him out to play on the freeway. It's about the same." - Bob Golic
"Football is not a contact sport. It's a collision sport. Dancing is a good example of a contact sport." - Duffy Daugherty
"Rugby is a beastly game played by gentlemen. Soccer is a gentleman's game played by beasts. Football is a beastly game played by beasts." - Henry Blaha
No talking. Talking doesn't play football, talking isn't going to make you practice harder or play harder.
-Ken Simonton
BB Accomplishments:
Nothing as far as bodybuilding.
September 22, 2007- My First sack during my semi-pro career. Against the Tri-City Titans in Kitchner, Ontario, Canada. Centennial Stadium.
Currently debating on returning for a 3rd season with the Michigan Admirals (www.michiganadmirals.com). A semi-professional football team in Flint, Michigan. We are part of the United States Football Alliance (www.theusfa.com)

Goals #1-3: Check... New as of 6/08/09- Lose 18 more pounds by August 1 for a total of 120 for my 5 year high school reunion
Goal (Long):
Ultimately I just want to lose body fat, and hopefully gain muscle in the process. I want to be in better shape for football. I figure this will allow me to move faster and more easily take on other guys. I only play defensive line now, but if I can work hard in the off season I might be able to play on both lines. Want to get my bench up to at least 300 pounds by the next season. I obviously do other lifts too, but in football bench is the one that is always tested for some reason.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 50 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
15%

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
Hasn't really changed my family life. Trying to talk my little brother into working out with me, I think that would allow me and him to be closer.

Other than the obvious benefits (appearance, health, etc.), how has bodybuilding and fitness improved your overall life?
I can breathe easier. My asthma isn't as bad and I'm losing weight. As I lose more weight I fit in more and get noticed by the ladies more, always nice
So it looks like its about time for a change of scenery for me. This snow and icy roads and crazy winds and freezing coldness is killing me already. After putting up with it for 23 years me and a friend have decided to move. Moving to Columbia, SC on January 4. Got an apartment and hoping to...
