When I Started:
Oct, 2007
How I Started:
I was born with a hole in my heart. As a result, all my life I was (and had felt) thin and weak. When my 17th birthday came, I made the decision I was going to change. I began training in my room using bodyweight exercises. When I went to University a year later, I joined the Kung Fu club and have busted my ass ever since. I now hold a Black Belt grade in both Contact and Lau Gar Kung Fu, and am a qualified instructor. I started training with weights in October 2007 to supplement the strength aspect of my Kung Fu training, and also help build size to deal with the effects of my Severe Ulcerative Colitis.

Goal (Long):
Short Term: I have Severe Ulcerative Colitis. My short term 'goal' is to deal with the disorder on a daily basis.
Long Term: Stay healthy and manipulate diet/lifestyle to limit the effects of Ulcerative Colitis. Hit 14 Stone/196 Pounds, and then continue the bulk into 200+ Pound territory.
What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Don't worry about what other people are doing in the gym. Doesn't matter what lifts they do, or what weights they use: concern yourself only with what YOU do, and every time you go to the gym, try to improve at least one thing. Reps, weight, less rest time etc. Just keep moving forward. Oh, and eat right! Don't worry about what other people are doing in the gym. Do you sometimes use a protein powder?
Yes
What is your favorite protein powder?
I use the cheap stuff from Holland & Barrett: Body Fortress Whey.
No quote this time. Or for a while. I'm taking a break from Bodyspace.
Eight months in since I started going to the gym and I'm 170 Pounds, or 12.2 Stone. That's one pound down from the beginning of May. Worse, it's only two pounds heavier than when I started eight months ago.
thanks for the comments man.. um ive always stayed relatively around the same amount of cals but it just takes time for ur body 2 adjust to the food and weight training.. dont focus 2 much on that, it will come with time.. uve only been at 6 months it took me 5 years to get where i am. have patience and be consistent w/ur diet and lifting and ull see results. best of luck man
Hey, I see you have colitis... How'd you manage to pull yourself out of a flare and stay in remisson? Any "tricks" that made a difference for you? I know with myself I have to have a super strict diet that consists of raw foods since I'm allergic to nearly everything. :( But the bodybuilding is coming along nicly cause of the healthy diet :)
Good luck with the bulk. Peace
