progress update

Posted in Training  :  Mar 26, 2011 12:56pm
Well, I had a bit of a set back last week with the virus from hell.  It knocked my energy levels down quite a bit but I still had some fairly decent lifts.  Almost back to baseline now, hopefully by Monday I'll be set.  I'm still really enjoying the change up to my lifting routine.  I think I am seeing noticing physical changes and I am certainly seeing my lifts increase  - which is very nice!  I started a supp log for higher power, their glutamine.  So far I am liking the product, seems to help with recovery.

Lovin' the new regimen

Posted in Training  :  Mar 09, 2011 4:58pm
I've continued the new workout regimen and I'm loving it.  I have always been a fan of compound movements versus isolation.  I won't argue that isolation movements don't have a place in a work out regimen b/c they certainly.  If you really want to get excellent definition and work on lagging groups isolation movements are the way to go.  For me I just love to lift; best stress reliever around.  The switch has reinvigorated my work out.  If only I had done it earlier . . . hard to go away from my comfort zone I guess.

Thoughts after 1 wwek of new routine

Posted in Training  :  Mar 06, 2011 5:21pm

Just a quick update.  After a week of my new routine I'm definitely liking it.  I was long over due for change.  It'll be a bit before I can comment on strength/size gains but I'll see how it goes.

cohndawk Hey Dr.Dave, I am a soon to be MS2 interested in neurosurgery with some questions about rotations and residency. Besides a large set of balls, What recommendations do you have regarding workouts and keeping up energy/concentration levels with minimal rest? Did you find it better to have a workout after working to prevent shakiness during procedures? Did you find caffeine useful or a detriment? If you had a significant other, how did time with them come into balance? Thanks a lot! Apr 27, 2011 1:20pm
