I really admired the physiques of Rachel McLish and Gladys Portuguese from the 80s. So I got into bodybuilding and actually competed. I've lifted for 28 years.
Why I Love It:
I don't love working out. I love the result you get from working out. Does anyone actually love training?
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm almost 50. I don't want to look like the average 50-year-old woman. So the mirror motivates me. And also the incredible bodies on this site.
BB Accomplishments:
I won a small local contest in the late 80s. That's about it.
I want to be healthy, of course, but to have people ask me how I look the way I do at almost 50 is the icing on the proverbial cake!
Goal (Long):
Having come from a history of eating disorders, then bodybuilding, I've run the gamut of body issues. I like to think I've come to an agreement with my body--searching for perfection, yet always coming up short. This keeps me sane. This keeps me humble. This makes me a better person. I'm not where I want to be just yet, but I'm damn close! I now want to help others in their own search.
Weight Goal:
Bodyfat Goal:

Hey Lisa - I just turned 50 in Oct and was struggling with it a bit, then I see a site like yours and it just makes me feel young at heart. Signed, getting used to being 50. Congrats on your accomplishments!!! clc.
Hi Lisa :) I've visited your profile in the past but just "found" you again and OMGOODNESS!! You are one SMOKIN' HOTT 49 y/o lady! Surely you jest about your age (although WHY would ANYONE claim to be OLDER than they really are?!? LOL). Anyway, I'm considering the BeachBody/P90X route. Is that ALL you do or do you have a personal trainer in addition to that program (for example, when you're training for a show maybe??). I need SOMETHING to shake up my stale routine!
