I grew up playing sports and have always enjoyed being physically fit.
Why I Love It:
As with most builders, finishing a workout or run, serves as a major daily accomplishment for me. The primal enjoyment of building a strong body thru exercise, rest and diet simply cannot be accurately reflected with words, but those of us who do it on a daily basis know what I mean. You find yourself secretly cringing at the food choices of the person eating next to you. Or you catch yourself looking at the tremendous gut of the person standing in front of you at grocery store. And those little episodes serve as the fuel that make you work harder. I think in my case, exercise has turned into my religion. It’s an activity that requires a mental, physical and spiritual investment from the individual, as well as the collective, for results. I also believe the exercise community to be the most supportive community on the planet! It's ambitious, exciting and certainly competitive, yet dignified, clean and supportive. Where else can you cut across so many cultural differences in harmony? Think about all the times someone gave you information that totally changed and improved your routine, thus, your results. I think if we were to give it serious thought, for a lot of us, the local gym is more than our second home. It serves as our special version of mental, physical and spiritual therapy; in essence, our very own body, mind and soul church. It’s the one place you can actually feel the spiritual satisfaction of your efforts. And even though you don’t always speak to them, you secretly recognize when those who spend as much time working out as you do, are absent. You recognize before most others when they lose weight and make improvements and you tell them so. I hope that’s not too deep, but that why I love building. Not unlike this website, the support the exercise community provides builders and body changers of all ranges is phenomenal. In the words of the old Cheers theme song, “You wanna be where everybody knows your name.”
How I Stay Motivated:
Other builders, the mirror, this website and my wife.
BB Accomplishments:
Through proper eating habits, I'm finally starting to see abs.
I want to achieve that perfect blend between muscularity and symmetry; cardiovascular health and strength. These days I’m fine tuning my diet because I’ve seen results, for the first time, very quickly because of my new found dietary choices. My specific goals include: 10% body fat, be able to bench, squat and dead lift twice my weight and the ever popular visible six pack. And I want achieve this within a two year time frame and finally put this body on track to prolonged health.
I came across this website via Bodybuilding.com and it's changed everything! The inspiration I get from this site is unbelievable. After almost 20 years of back and forth, I've finally found the motivation to stay with it. It takes a lot of courage to put your before pics out there for the...

Hey Dextra. I just read the comment you left for another bodyspace member (it was about how exercising is more of a calling than a hobby). I just wanted to say what a great comment. You truely defined how a lot of us feel about exercise. Well done. By the way, post some pics. Those "before" pics can be the best modivation tool you can use. Don't worry about judgement either. Have a great one- JT
