DerekSimon Leg workout today was decent. Finished squats with 405 lbs. and could barely do leg extensions afterwards... that's a good sign, I hope.

DerekSimon Great workout yesterday, although I continue to struggle keeping my weight up... never thought eating a lot would be an issue.

  • It's not quite that bad, but, whereas I used to have very little "overlap" soreness -- bicep days don't affect tricep days, chest days don't affect back days, etc. -- now I'm starting to experience that crossover effect more and more.

  • I know, it's the first time since I started working out 4 years ago that I've been sick actually! But it seems to be sth in the air or something. Half my acquaintances have been bedridden in the last month...

DerekSimon Hit the triceps so hard today, I couldn't do dips... next time I'll try lifting weights instead of hitting myself; see if that helps ;).

Ever since I was in high school where every discussion of weightlifting began with “whad’ya bench?” I’ve wanted to bench press 400 pounds.  About a year ago, I came close when I did 395 lbs. (why I chose that weight instead of an even 400 is beyond me). However, that was followed by a fairly serious shoulder injury that prevented me from benching for about six months. In my final essay for the 2013 Transformation Challenge, I made the distinction between dedication and motivation, noting that the latter is overrated because “like the moon, it waxes and wanes.” I opined that dedication is far more important — and today was a great example. TrevTD Ya. I workout with a bunch of 20 yrs olds. They love my routines and how I mix it up every 5 weeks. They call me natz gym guy! Fun to kick there butt and still have them come back for more. jim0561 Thanks for the friend request, I reached the 400 mark once, it was the week before I turned 45, of course my body weight was about 240 at the time.
