In university, I started lifting weights to improve my racquetball game. Before fulfilling this mandatory P.E. requirement (racquetball class), I did not participate in any sports.
Why I Love It:
Management of Stress. Since diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, 10 yrs. ago, it is imperative that I avoid/manage stessful situations to mitigate any potential adverse effects manifested upon my body.
How I Stay Motivated:
Look in the mirror --- I see evidence of success with my personal challenges (physical and mental) to myself.
BB Accomplishments:
May 2007 issue of Oxygen Magazine's "Tomorrow's Cover Girl"
April 2007 issue of Southern Muscle Magazine
1st NPC Figure Competition - 9/2002 --> To have courage to stand there for open criticism...

[Appreciate the Negative.]
This was taken at the Orthopedic Sports and Medicine. This was the day it was determinged I needed ACL reconstruction. Good news - my bones were just fine.
Cheering Geaux Saints 9-0! And yes, that's an IV port dangling from my arm for medication. Not another injury, just MS. I CAN'T feel left side of face, tongue, etc. It Never Ends... *smile*
Leg Press 25-lbs for each regular season N.O. Saints' win. New knee, new Super Bowl Champs! *smile*
Goal (Long):
My goal is to attain IFBB Pro Figure status. My first milestone to this goal is top 5 placing at National NPC Figure competition.
Unfortunately, this milestone was not realized 9/16/06 as planned at the North American competition. I injured my knee (torn ACL) 2 days before check in.
My "Short, Short Term" goal is to Rehabilitate my Knee - Stronger & Better.
He has helped me understand what MOST don't - me! His direction in my competition prep despite multiple injuries has proven phenomenal. My diet ---> 'PIZZA FRIDAY' all the way up 'til showtime. And NO Ab work in my training regimen. Best Trainer Ever!!! *smile*
Paul inspired me the day we "met" - here on BodySpace. I believe I said he was the boy version of me. But I think he is more heroic than I am. We both have Multiple Sclerosis, have done over 12 competitions, and use a cane when needed. Coolest thing - cane ON stage. Reminds me to accept / Appreciate all of MY negatives.

Let me break from 'alleged' singing of MY rendition of a renowned tune to answer the query posed, "(How U) Make Me Feel Like a Man Should Make a Woman (Feel)?"
Answer, " Criticize her gluteus maximus." That should do the trick. Ask my hubby. A fabulous example...
Dawn Melanie you are amazing! Every time i see your page i want to hit the gym! Hope ur training is going well! Keep up the work i know ur an inspiration to many!
going over 185 grams protein for me causes problems lol. Do you think fat leads to just as good of muscular gains as carbs on a gaining phase. Like would, in your opinion, 300 grams carbs with 60 grams fat, or 240 grams carbs with 85 grams fat be better? Or would it matter if its the same calorie level? Just figured fat is easier to slam down ol
and do you have any recommendations for constipation? I get in 40-50 grams of fiber, 3 litres of water a day, and 2 3 oz servings of green beans as well as some ground flax, and wheat bran. (so embarassing.......its just I feel so much better when everything goes smoothly if you know what I mean :P )
dang. I would think you were going lower carb then but you were eating 4000 calories so that leaves around 350 grams of carbs! Strong apetite. Do you think a good split for me would be 35/35/30 protein/carbs/fats?
your not joking right? Did eating that much ever cause boat or gas? For some reason whenever I go over 1.5 g/lb I get that and some constipation even though I eat lots of veggies, water, fiber, etc. Guess I will have to scale it up slowly?
How much protein do you eat when trying to gain? I have been getting in 185 grams (1.5xbw), 244 carbs (2xbw), and 70 grams fat (~0.6 g/b) and still not gaining weight. I was wondering if I should bump everything up a bit, or keep protein whhere it is at and just up carbs/fats.
I dropped by to see how things are going with your fitness program and how you are doing? I hope that all is well and that you motivation is staying high. I have a "new knee" also, except mine is a computerized one that reads what my leg is doing over 100 X a second, very trick. I wish you nothing but the best. If there is ever anything that I can do to be of assistance please feel free to give me a yell.
Go SAINTS!!
