"GEt my bodyfat down as low as possible! And keep adding muscle!! And hoping to KICK ASS in Las Vegas on July 12th!!!!"

When I Started:
Nov, 2006
How I Started:
I was recovering from a 7 year addiction to prescription painkillers. when I got out of detox I felt like crap. I celebrated my one year clean Sept 18 2007!
I am hoping to find a upcoming contest I can properly prepare for!
I turned to weightlifting/cardio to repair the damage to my mind and body. I swear I am now in the best shape of my life!!
I vowed to do the Bill Phillips "Body for life" program! After the 12 weeks I never looked back! It changed my life!!
Why I Love It:
I workout in the mornings...Between 3 and 3:30am during the week. When I get home from the gym after exercising I feel Awesome! I can focus and I am much more productive! I work out 6 days a week. 4 days of lifting/cardio then two days or intense cardio/ab work!
I am also A BIG believer in Natural bodybuilding...no steriods or performance enhancing drugs!
How I Stay Motivated:
Hmmmm...good question. I often wonder that myself. Maybe one good reason is I have come so far I can't give up! Plus I just have a great day once I get my workout over with.
Actually I think gettin to the gym is half your workout! I don't really jump for joy at 3:15am when My alarm goes off. But mostly once I am in my routine pounding out some weight then when I Get done the feeling is GREAT!!!
Also I can't justify missing a workout or eating JUNK food. To me its like a savings account at a bank. You make more deposits...working out and eating healthy then you maintain a huge balance. If you miss workouts and eat the wrong foods pretty soon your account will empty out. I call those withdrawals from your account. As long as you keep making lots of deposits and few withdrawals the payoff is well worth it!
BB Accomplishments:
I have dropped 30 pounds and dropped my body fat to 8%. I remember the first day in the gym I could not bench press 90 pounds. Now I am a little over the 200 pound mark. I am hoping to compete?

Out of detox and it shows!! Man I felt like hell! The first two weeks in the gym were a challenge.
GEt my bodyfat down as low as possible! And keep adding muscle!! And hoping to KICK ASS in Las Vegas on July 12th!!!!
Goal (Long):
I started out overweight and was doing alot of cardio. Now I am lifting 4 days a week and doing cardio only 2 days a week. My focus is to hopefully compete and bulk up more.
What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Patience. It won't happen overnight.
Stay focused. Eat right get plenty of rest and when you are at the gym make the most of your time. I hate watching people who wonder aroud at the gym. USE A NOTEBOOK!!!! Have your entre workout planned out when you go.Patience. It won't happen overnight.

What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
I did pretty good I followed Bill Phillips "Body for Life." I really didn't have a problem mistake wise.
Okay I haven't been on in awhile! But still have been hitting the gym on a regular basis!
I want to compete in Las Vegas on July 12th. I have a program all set up. I am just concerned a little about cardio/losing muscle mass and getting shredded!!!
Dan, I saw your new progress pic come up on the main page. Wow. You have done great work, especially to have come from such a dark place. Have a great new year. I hope to have some equally impressive progress pics by June. --Stewart '62
Things have been good! I am just a pound away from the goal weight of 205 - pretty amazing. Clothes I bought the end of June are fitting like bags. Had a client this past week that didn't even recognize me when I was at his door. After the horror of my workout partner ripping his bicep tendon [see the blog], I am coasting a bit, but week after next, I am going to pick it back up. Keep at it!
I've got my pre-op appointment on the 17th. Hopefully I'll heal quick. :)

Yes I had to sneek a peek, but the before and after pics are truly amazing. Your doing great and you look great! All this over a years time? You must be really determined. Your family must be proud of you. Hell I don't even know and I'm proud of you.... keep it up!
I do not do as much but yes I do my cardio. I am trying to increase it but my work schedule is really demanding. I do workout when I can though. Sounds like you are getting up there.. YOu will be like me soon!!!
LOL. I know many think I am nuts for it.. Everyone hates it.. Its freeing to me.. I dont know, weird to explain.. Too bad I can't trade someone Ill do the cardio they do my weights.. That'd be grand!
Oh I am.. At one point I was doing about 10-12 hours a week. I have slacked to a tiny 4 hours, however I am going up to 14 hours soon. 1 hour TWICE a day. I want to get to my goal line before March 5, and that date is coming fast!!
