When I Started:
Jun, 2001
How I Started:
I was diagnosed with type one diabetes about 8 years ago and wheighed 64kg's because of it.Propably because of excessive drinking and eating allot of sugar foods. Was taken up in hospital after being diagnosed and was informed on my condition and how to monitor it. I was released a week later, after endlessly having to inject oranges with a saltwater solution(practice drill,i know sound quite funny). Shortly after I had picked up a bit of wheight again from eating correctly and training hard and had met a friend who said I had potential and who was into bodybuilding and he started training me and I started dieting correctly and got myself assesed regularly by a dietician to keep my progress and diet in check. And since then I breath, eat and sleep Bodybuilding,it's a passion and a lifestyle I follow. Which I learn allot from. Also permanently eat clean and stopped drinking.
Why I Love It:
Eversince I started competing I was hooked, just being able to see what my body is capable of and seeing the positive changes in progress. It goes hand in hand with keeping me healthy as a diabetic, eating regularly and training, all things a normal person does to progress in the sport, allot of it has to do with keeping sugar levels stable.Knowing from my trial and error's that I've learnt from,im paving a way for other diabetics, who I could help accomplish same goals as I did, without going through the errors. Passing on any knowledge I've built up since I started and seeing how it positively affects someone elses physique and gets them closer to their goals without the setbacks.
How I Stay Motivated:
Friends and family and when I do posing and see myself gradually improving in shape, conditioning and size also motivates me to work harder or keep at it.
This was shortly before I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, age 17,wheighing 64kg's/140.8 Lbs. Thinking I was looking quite ripped(TOO THE BONE YES). Having no idea of my condition yet.Progress pics to FILL the gap between here and 09 2 come...Excuse the quality, photo had to be scanned.
She is still young and yet has accomplish a hell of allot in her first two years of competing and well on her way to getting her well deserved pro card!!! Also she is very helpfull and down to earth for some one who has been featured in articles and who has accomplished so much and is yet to accomplish so much more!
What do you think about people who "grunt" loudly while working out? Do you do it?
No problem, whatever works for pushing themselves, might sometimes motivate the person next to them. I would, but try not too.

Yes
What is it?
Type 1 Diabetes
How does fitness help you with your condition? What do you have to do differently in your program since you have this condition?
Bodybuilding and what it entails, like the dieting and training all helps keep my sugar levels under controll and my blood circulation well. Which is good,to prevent gangrene etc.Nothing, just being more strict on having meals often.Bodybuilding and what it entails, like the dieting and training all helps keep my sugar levels under controll and my blood circulation well. What is the most dangerous weightlifting exercise? Why?
Any excercise involving your lower back, where you have to have pressure inside your sternum/chest cavity to help keep back straight like when doing squats or deadlifts where something as simple as breathing incorrectly could cause an injury, deflating your lungs, relieving internal pressure and thus casuing back to arch and puts tremendous pressure on internal discs of back .Any excercise involving your lower back, where you have to have pressure inside your sternum/chest cavity to help keep back straight like when doing squats or deadlifts where something as simple as br...more
Why I like this video: Most inspirational video i ever saw with Breaking benjamin playing in background-So Cold!!! And i'm a big fan the Dorian the Bulldog Yates,he had the sickest back ever and was the most driven and focused bodybuilder and pushed himself far beyond the pain barrier. Set the benchmark for striated size after Arnold,Lou Ferigno and Lee haney.
Muscle Gods 3
Played: 115
Why I like this video: Another great inspirational vid. Featuring Paul Dillet,Kevin Levrone,Flex Wheeler,Ronnie Coleman,Jay Cutler,Markus Rhule,David Henry,etc.

Hey man. How's it going? Yeah I was told I had type 1 diabetes about 3 months ago when I wasn't feelin good and I kept passing out so I went into the er and they said my sugar was at around 700. I know what you mean. There's not any even bodybuilders around me. Let alone diabetic bodybuilders lol. got any tips? Anyway man. Awesome to meet you on here. Good luck with everything
HaHaHa! Thanks for sharing my own words with me...*smile* Yeah! I had a BLAST and can't wait to do it again. Thanks for stoppin' by and sharing the words of encouragement! ...needless to say, I TRULY hope all is well on your end!
I'm trying to get my traps to grow man. Any advice? Also, how long r you suppost take off if you sustain a minor injury? Like a finger dislocation or a muscle tear? That doesn't seem to be on the mags I buy.
awesome dude. Insirational actually. I am 35 with Type I since 2000. Started workout out religiously about 2 years ago. Getting a lot more heavy into it. Nowhere near competing. I can't quite get the bodybuilder diet down. I really need to trim body fat. I wear an insulin pump and it seems that i pudge in the areas where i put the catheter. Anyway, you are doing an awesome job. I wish i could compare.
Hiya!

Hey bro, I totally understand what you mean! You have to listen to your body, so if it is asking for a breather.. give it a breather! Let me know how everything works out for you, and try to get some good sleep!
