I started lifting w/my dad and his friends (and my brother too sometimes) in our garage. Standard garage lifting...lots of bench, curls, bb rows and an occasional lunge/crunch haha I then got into competitive powerlifting in college w/Joe Kenn at Boise State University. Transition into strongman in 2000.
Why I Love It:
You get out of it what you put into it...
You're generally the only one to blame for anything bad...
It's a great stress reliever...
You only have one body, better take care of it!!!
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm a pretty motivated person, in general, so staying motivated is pretty easy for me. However, competing adds to that. It gives me certain tasks on a certain date i have to prepare for. And since I want to do well when I compete, I push it hard when i'm in contest prep mode.
BB Accomplishments:
I won the national championships of strongman and got my pro card in October of 2003. I was ESPN and Fox Sports competing at Muscle Beach to try and qualify for World's Strongest Man (in 2005 & 2007). I won "Most Popular" athlete in the 2008 Quebec Cup (a series of contests held all over Quebec during the summer).

i watched your video on strongman training with brian bullman you mentioned tennis elbow as a common problem i think i may have it any tips to help with the recovery
I came in 10th out of 24. I really messed up on the stones. i trained for power not for speed. I was set for a podium finish until the stones. I posted a vid on my profile.
I was disappointed we couldn't make it this year. Some folks at work asked me to do a LD relay run with them this summer. So I've added a bit of long slow distance to the program. I forgot how much I hated that stuff. Are there any other strongman comps in the NW this season?
