When I Started:
Apr, 2009
How I Started:
OK, I have had a profile on here for a while and I figured that it was time to update!!
Last year, I began a program that was donig wonders for me. I dropped a ton of weight, lost body fat percentage and was feeling great. In April, my father passed away and the mourning along with new obligations took away from my program. By time summer came, I was not lifting or running anymore. During December of 2008 I decided that it was time to get serious again. I have restarted my program and hope to see the same success this time only I would like to complete it!!
Why I Love It:
Working out has many physical and mental benifits. I feel better and more confident when I am working out. Even though I have not even scratched the surface thus far, my whole outlook has changed. Going from a sendentary lifestyle to one in which I actually have control gives me a whole new lease on life!!
How I Stay Motivated:
I now have a new motivation: My father passed away in 2008 from a Heart Attack after battling with heart disease for many years. In his life he had three severe heart attacks and plenty of cholesterol problems to deal with. He also smoked for a high percentage of his life. I do not smoke but still I am suseptable to heart troubles thanks to good ole genetics!! I have some control over my destiny so I use it as motivation to get my ass running and working out on a constant, continuous basis. I have also adjusted my eating habits not only to allow me to reach my goals but to also assist my body in staying healthy on the inside!!
BB Accomplishments:
Since March, I have lost approximately 26 pounds (much of that fat weight). That is HUGE for my program!! As I see the number on the scale dimenish I become more and more motivated!! When I get down to 290 I am going to hit the weight room again!! Summer is coming up and guess what my summer job is - Strength Coach in the Weight Room!! Talk about opportunity!!

What is the most dangerous weightlifting exercise? Why?
Any olympic lift such as power clean, clean and jerk, etc. You have to train these exercises for a couple of years until you can actually begin to put weight on the bar

What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Improper form. Too often I see people performing an exercise they either saw on TV or someone else do with terrible form. It is kind of funny because I know they will not be able to get out of bed in the morning!! However, very few adults will take advice. My athletes on the other hand are constantly learning - they are very acceptable to advice and instructions.Improper form. What bicep workout has worked best for you?
Dumbbell Curls, Preacher Curls, Hammer Curls (One arm over incline bench) and 21's
It has been a while since I have posted a blog and my goals have changed quite a bit. Also, my body has flucuated from the pinacle to the trenches in merely a year. At one time I was down near 275lbs and feeling great. Soon after I lost my dad to heart disease and I took comfort in eating...
Hey Coach,
Thanks for the comment - I'll remember that one with the saddle. Normally I would never lock my bike on the street, NEVER.. But it was for 3hours.. Obviously that's not a good enough excuse! I think I'll just bring the wheels inside next time..
Take care!
i actually own a small weekly paper.. so thus all the coverage...hehe.. love what i do though and with our small community naturally everyone gets behind the teams come friday nights so it is a great time to be a newspaper even if our team doesn't end up advancing out...just wrapped up our annual football contest first week and sending it to press actually sooo happy the hard part is over..hehe
yeah august takes some getting used to.. it is like dead halt all summer then BAM football BAM cross country and BAM basketball.. on top of my other jobs outside of the paper itself which is part of what has made me restless lately..hehe.... here I am in a 2a school community in north texas...
