Personal Info And Background:
Real Name:
Mike
Sex:
Male
Age:
30
Location:
Harrisonburg, Virginia, United States
Occupation:
Teacher/Coach
Personal Website:
Primary Gym:
College:
High School:
When I Started:
1994
How I Started:
I first picked up a barbell in my friends basement when I was 15. It was a cheap plastic set but from the first time I lifted I have been dedicated.
Why I Love It:
Working out just feels good. I was a cross country and track runner through high school and college but always made time for lifting. I love the people I meet through working out. They are the ones that get you and don't look at you sideways when you say "I'm low carbing it" or "I hate cardio."
How I Stay Motivated:
It's an easy thing to do for myself. Everyone makes time for what is important to them. The friends I have met and continue to meet at the gyms I've been a member of are an inspiration to me.
BB Accomplishments:
2008 Battlefield Classic - overall 2009 Potomac Cup - 2nd in middle weight
Forum Signature:
Many fall victim to limits they place on themselves because their perception of exercise and fitness is daunting. Often, in exercise and in life, the hard thing to do is the right one. The sacrifice is worth the reward.

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
I've had strained muscles, inflamed tendons, and what seemed like chronic soreness. I don't like taking time off but know that a a couple of days won't wreck me so when necessary, I'll take some time...more

What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Inadequate warm ups and poor form.
- Updated Jun 29, 2009 11:21am

What is the most dangerous weightlifting exercise? Why?
I think squats are the most dangerous. I think many of us get to eager with the weight when starting out and utilize incorrect form with this exercise.
