I've been training with weights for approximately 28 years and also have previously competed in gymnastics. In 1987 I began competing in bodybuilding, in the Lightweight class, and did very well: earning first and second placings including national level up to 1990. Then I took a long hiatus from the sport: attending school, becoming a registered nurse, working as a personal trainer, getting married, and having a child. Now I am single mom. I think turning back to weights and competition was a search for strength during the rough patches in my life. I quickly regained the fit form I once had and again began winning, only now in Figure competitions. Today I am muscular but still feel very pretty and feminine ... as a woman should feel. When I train, it's a passion, not work. I enjoy training because it makes me feel young at heart -- especially at age 47.
Why I Love It:
I love fitness because I am an athlete and nothing less.
At one time a friend sent me a message and compared me to fine wine….."You are like fine wine……..you get better with age". This should be true for all of us………we choose our path in life……..good health will open doors to all your dreams……..train with passion and from your heart.
This is my passion. I consider my training a form of art ……Remember we are artist…It's my creation.... ….I’m a sculpture that needs to be defined down to perfection …..the final results is a brilliant masterpiece!! …….My photos are a work of art…created from the heart……

How I Stay Motivated:
I find my passion for competing is a great motivator in itself. Competition has always given me great confidence and self-esteem to pursue other challenges in my life. It also has helped me surmount the struggles in my life. Remember, it is never too late to start a fitness program or competition. I challenge all the young and especially those over 40.
Another motivator is Laura Binetti (1999 World Champion Bodybuilder and 5 time Miss Olympia Competitor) who has been my trainer for the last 22 years and also my new trainer Mike Davies. They both have taught me great knowledge and discipline in being the best I can be. We all need great trainers for guidance and support.

Reflecting On The Past Year
Every once in a while we like to sit down and think about how much has happened in our life over the past few weeks, months, etc. Have we changed at all? Have we matured? Have we grown to a progressively better level than we wwere at before or have we...
I am so looking forward to the videos and further gains. It is awe-inspiring to find other nurses with the kind of motivation and perseverance you show. Glad to have met you :)
Excellent that you have too much muscle as a problem...hehe. Wish I had that problem for sure. BTW, whatever the "so called" experts call too much, I would call, "PERFECT!!!" At any rate, this show coming up will actually be my first. I prepped for one two years ago then tore my ACL two weeks before. BUMMER!
I'm doing great, been blowing up to 240 pounds and will be looking forward to cutting it down starting on Jan. 4th in prep for the Mr. Sierra Vista comp in March. Your next comp is in Aug of next year? Will you bulk now?
