My trainer (who is now my husband - yes, I married him!) competes and I would go to every show to support him. I saw the fitness girls on stage and thought how incredible their bodies looked! Never did I imagine stepping on stage in a bikini. I'm from Hawaii so I'll strip down to a bikini anyday at any beach but to get on stage was a crazy idea for me. Well, after 2 years of heavy lifting I decided to enter my first figure competition in Texas, where I now live.
Why I Love It:
Working out actually gives me more energy. As a female, it's empowering to lift weights and see the changes week by week. I love free weights because you don't have to make any adjustments to the seat or leg pad - just lift!
How I Stay Motivated:
I used to workout WITHOUT an ipod. Then I got one for my birthday and I don't know how I ever managed getting through a leg workout without it!! I used to think, 'what is the big deal?' now I know!!!
BB Accomplishments:
I was working out at Texas gym that would keep the doors open for ventilation. This gym primarily worked with NFL drafts and they wanted to make sure their muscles stayed warm so the a/c was never in use. So it's hot as all get out and my husband is training me - it's leg day and I'm doing squats. HE decides it's time to stop you-know-whatting around so I go from squatting 275lbs to 315lbs. After I racked it, all I could do was stare at those three plates on each side in disbelief. That was a cool moment for me. I'm trying to get back to that strength level again. At that point, it's not about how is lifting this weight going to change my shape, it's about how bad do you want it?

Christine2005updated Fit Status "In Vegas watching my husband compete in Musclemania Pro!! "
Christine2005is inspired by Captain Ahab. Reason: "Captain Ahab's story is an amazing one. I found out some upsetting news and then I read his story. I have NOTHING to complain about. Thank... "
I gave birth to healthy girl about 2.5 years ago, nursed for a whole year. You can imagine what that can do to a girl's body!! I did a photo shoot last November to 'test' the waters to see how I could shape up. It's not that easy, not for me anyway. My next goal is get back on stage and do well. Doing well means qualifying for a national level competition. My waistline is my biggest challenge. The training, the dieting, the cardio, practicing posing - doing it is not the problem. Time is my biggest enemy! I have to get it all in and then go home to focus on my little girl. My biggest accomplishment this year will be to look great on stage again and to be a great parent - THAT WILL BE BIG FOR ME.
Captain Ahab's story is an amazing one. I found out some upsetting news and then I read his story. I have NOTHING to complain about. Thank you for sharing your story, this is exactly what I needed to read. Preserverance, strength, faith, and courage always finds it's way home!
What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Improper technique puts stress on the joints. My back pain is from my pregancy.

What are your secrets for making healthy food taste great?
I don't use heavy sauces in my meals. I like to use whole, simple foods with a little seasoning - OMG, soy sauce is my ultimate fave, especially on egg whites. Is that healthy?

Other than the obvious benefits (appearance, health, etc.), how has bodybuilding and fitness improved your overall life?
I admire you so much. You caught my eye while I was at the lobby at UH. It's so nice to see a woman of Asian background doing this kind of stuff. I'm all giddy right now. I don't have too many people I look up to, but you're definitely one of them!
MS. ANDERSON! I'm so glad I found you. My boyfriend and I went to the Houston ProAM show at the University of Houston and saw you won. Congratulations! You're such an inspiration to me. And I saw they had a feature on you in the local Houston/Katy health magazine. I got so excited. I keep that magazine with me at all times =). It's such a trip to see a mom so fit and amazing.
I am incredibly honored as well as truly humbled that you said you find me inspirational. It is people like you here at Bodybuilding.com that keep me inspired as well as allowing me to continue believing that fitness truly can make a difference in people’s lives.
Stay strong, focused and determined & may God bless.
I just dropped by to say that you look absolutely fantastic! You have the body that so many women dream of but are not willing to put the effort into developing. I compliment you on your dedication, determination as well as your achievements. You are a fantastic inspiration to others. Stay strong, focused and determined & may God bless.
that sound good meaning you get a chance 2 relax more and focus on your clients and spend more time with family rite? I been training myself as always and notice the uprising of bodybuilding in my area especially the women alot of light and middle weight i been seeing latley.
12 workouts! Wish I could help with the workload...just try not to take out the Yankees defeat on them. :) Now, I need to figure a new running route. The local McDonalds just put McRibs on sale. So bad, and yet I can't resist.
