Working out in the past had always been a favor. It started in college in 2004 where I was on a full ride basketball scholarship at Colorado State University. We were lifting heavy 4 days a week, practicing 3 hours a day, and conditioning pretty much all the time. After my freshman year we got a new coach who I played for my whole sophomore year. I hated basketball after that year and it was the most miserable time of my life. I quit the team because my feelings and mental well being were more important to me. I took about 4 months off and at that time found out that I had celiac's disease and that I was lactose intollerant. I got SUPER skinny because my whole diet changed around. I went from being a 185 horse in college to a skinny 160. I started working out and reading oxygen magazine for tips on eating right and lifting. I still stayed skinny because I wasn't eating enough. See, most of the girls in these magazines diet at around 1300 calories. I am not like most girls though. I am 6'2" solid. I did start eating more and got really into lifting. I mad a lot of friends at the recreation center at school that would all lift together. In December 2007, a friend approached me and said that they were all doing a show and that I should do one with them because I would do really well. At the point I decided to go for it. I started dieting and training hard on Jan. 1, 2008 and did my first show in April 08'.
Why I Love It:
Working out and transforming my body is something I have full control over. Anyone in the bodybuilding world knows that there is always something that they would change/improve about themselves. Working out never gets boring and is a HUGE stress reliever for my busy lifestyle. My favorite feeling is when you just aren't having the greatest day and you are soo tired that you don't want to workout. Making yourself push through that workout and pushing yourself even farther then you thought through that entire workout, and then feeling the end result of accomplishment. I also love to sweat when I workout ;-)
How I Stay Motivated:
I stay motivated by reading any and every fitness magazine. Getting different workout ideas and making every single workout different then the last. Variety is the key for me! Seeing pictures of the pros that I look up to and the figure I would ultimately like to attain is pretty motivating!
Also modeling keeps me motivated so because you never know when you are going to get an opportunity. Always gotta look great. Please vote for me for the Ironman magazine model search!!!
BB Accomplishments:
I would have to say that my first major accomplishment would be actually doing my first show back in April. After that I was hooked! I haven't done the best in my competitions since then but I have looked better and better at each one. I can only compete against myself and work on improving my body to the best of my ability.
