I also suggest that you take small steps. By taking smaller steps towards a larger goal, you are able to experience success much more quickly and much more often. So instead of telling yourself you're going to lose say, 50 pounds within the year try telling yourself you're going to lose 1 pound this week. Then do it.

I want to say that I believe you can and will achieve your fitness goal. I don't know what program you use but my wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 in just 12 weeks and I lost over 50 lb in the same time period by following the 12 week Body for Life body transformation program. Challenge yourself to continually eat clean, lift weights 3 to 4 times a week and do cardio 3 times a week and you will soon see the bodyfat shrinking and the muscles being defined.
