When I Started:
Mar, 2003
How I Started:
Long story short, I ran to burn off the beer belly, post-college/after party, which parlayed into entering a private bodybuilding contest that lasted 3-4 months. Contestants were judged based on a point system. 3 points per lb. of lean muscle and 1 point per % of body fat lost. In Aug of 2004, I weighed in at 139 lb (5% body fat) and finished at 150 lb (7% body fat); took home a trophy and $1,000! Years later, I have been on and off (unfortunately, more off) on my workouts, so now the flab has set in.
Why I Love It:
Rich or poor, if you've worked hard for that body, no one can take that away from you.
How I Stay Motivated:
Friendly Competition and goal-setting. Competing against others or for now, myself. It helps to visit other gyms to see new faces and physiques. There's always someone a little bigger and a little more cut than you are. That's motivating enough.
BB Accomplishments:
1st Place / $1,000 Winner in "Al's Body Building Contest" (privately-held) 2004
Having a defined 4-pack in 2005 XD
1st Place - 6 month friendly bodybuilding competition August 2008
I've decided that I need to clean up my diet and work on definition and abs. Cutting weight will be in order until the abs pop. Cut, then bulk to 175lb. I can't wait to bulk, but I really need to cut fat.
Following the Get Lean program from Waterbury's "Huge in a Hurry." Week 2 of 15!
Goal (Long):
It isn't necessarily the vanity that I'm shooting for, but having a body fit for the cover of a magazine wouldn't be half bad either. Actually, I'm all about developing the core muscles that would include abs. It's essential for keeping fit and healthy (decreasing my lower back pain).
Over all, I want to be in the best shape of my life!
Goal for 2009 is to gain mass and then get cut. I'm going to increase my weight to 175 by 4/7/09 and then get ripped by 7/7/09 with just 7% bodyfat.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 15 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
7%

How many reps per set do you usually do? Why?
10, unless I'm going for failure then more. My rule of thumb is that if you can do 10 reps with proper form, consistently each week, then you're ready to increase your weight.

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
1-3 minutes. Depends on how pressed for time I am or how I feel.
Taking the progress pictures helped me to realize that my left arm is bigger than my right?! I always hold Jordin with my left arm, simply because it's easier for me to grab and do things with my right and for that my left arm has reaped the benefits of the constant lifting. Maybe we...
Fuuck dude, I am floored lol. You have NO IDEA how hard it is for me to put some pictures like that up. I use to play professional Volleyball for christ sakes lol!!!! Well it did it's job, I am officially out of denial and now focused. I will be blogging everyday to keep me motivated and accountable.
