How I Started:
I found this site and was inspired by mostly people in their 40's. Also by people that were over weight and/or started workingout in their 40's and by people who have over come hardships. I'm out of shape, and not even close to where I want to be, so I think this site and interacting with others will keep me honest and motivated.
Why I Love It:
I love the IDEA of working out....but I have yet to start my program. I have my date set to start on 20JAN08. I will do my assessments, make a workout routine, and track my progress. I don't plan to ever compete, but I would like to have the look to be able to, if that makes any sense?
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm planning to stay motivated from the people on this site and by my personal progress and hopefully I will be able to inspire others in the future. I want to go to a pool and not wear my shirt without embarresment and since my wife is waiting to see if I will stick with this before she joins me, I'm hoping to inspire her to join me soon.

This is the reason I want to workout. I'm at 240 lbs and 23% BF and I want to build up my chest, back and arms and trim down my abs. I hoping to have a much better pic posted in my progress in 6 months.
I'm guessing this is how this posting thing works....I'll guess I'll find out and I know I'll get better at with time. OK, My plan is moving along, slowly as planned...First step was to decide I needed to workout and change my body, next I needed motivation, which I found by many profiles...

Workout Program:
Starting program is:
M-W-F
Bench Press 200 LBS, 3 sets, 10 reps each.
Push ups. Every hour from 8 am to 8 pm, do 20 push ups.
pull ups. 3 sets of as many as I can.
Triceps cable pull down.
ab crunches
thanks for the nice PM- glad to have inspired you! Best of luck with your training program. The best thing is to stick with something until your progress decreases, then try something else.

I'm glad to be of any help I can. I, too, draw inspiration from the "older" success stories. Anyone who can achieve a renewed physique after the age of 35 or 40 is AMAZING
