I started working out when I was a freshman in high school trying to make the football team. After playing four years of football I went to college and got cut from the football team there. I started working out for a while and then slowly just kind of quit and focused on school. After college I joined the Air Force and started working out again (after all everyone else was doing it). I went to Iraq in 2006 and didn't have much to do but work out. I quickly lost about 30 lbs. I slowed down again and blew up to about 262 lbs. Now I started working out again and already lost 20 lbs. I haven't really looked back since.
Why I Love It:
I just like to look and feel good. Besides, I play in a lot of intramural sports on base and I am very competitive. I like to be the best so I try to stay in pretty good shape.
How I Stay Motivated:
I am naturally a pretty determined person. My most motivating feature is anger though. I have always been someone of an outcast or an underdog and it pisses me off. I'm always the guy that everyone seems to hate. I have never been considered the fastest, or the strongest. I have always been the guy that girls never thought was cute enough and dudes thought was too "goofy" to be around (even though I think I'm the coolest person I know). I put all of that anger into every workout and it seems to show results.
I want to be in the best shape I can be in. I had gotten all the way up to 262 lbs. and I just felt sluggish. I didn't even have the energy to run and play with my son. I only wanted to play games that allowed me to sit down. Plus, I'm in the Air Force so I need to be in great physical condition. I also want my metabolism to pick up so I don't gain like 3 lbs. every time I eat a meal.
Why is it that I have spent all of this time training and getting in the best shape of my life only to keep getting reminders that I am aging at a rate that is quicker than I care to count? I'll tell you why I get those reminders. It's usually from my Airmen at work.
Rock on man - scott curls! yeah, I BET you're feeling tore up today. I re-incorporated weight training back into my regimin. I just got off my cardio only stint. I have been missing the iron, but now I'm back! and loving it!
Yes!! thanks for asking! I've been able to cut back on sugars like a mad woman and have been enjoying reworking my meals. After only a few days I already feel so much better. Eating healthy and truly eating clean feel so different. I'm looking forward to today's workout! How's your trimming going?
dont get angery about the inspirational thingy. People could mock it but as long as there is a person who inspired you that is enough even if it one guy.
Thanks for the tip!! I'll check that out...I am taking your advice and cutting sugars everywhere I can. Which is pretty much ALL sugar. The only thing that had sugar was <1 g in my protein today.
Well, no worries - you are looking great. I've kind of hit a plateau myself...I think my meal plans need to get cleaner, because I' working my ass off...
Well it doesnt look like you are slacking there. Haha. I have been great, I have finally broken my plateau I havent really been losing like I should since April. But this past week seems to have finally broken through again! I am not recording anything until the end of the month but I'm confident this was it. Haaha. To lose it I've just been lifting, eating clean and most importantly staying consistent. :)
