When I Started:
Jan, 2009
How I Started:
I recently went through a mid-life crisis. It amde me re-evaluate every aspect of my life. From my money situation, to family, to personal health and fitness. I was nowhere near where I envisioned myself being when I was in my 20's and 30's. I saw pictures of myself with others. I never realized I had gotten so big. It is important to me that my physical appearance is healthy and attractive. And at this stage in my life I'm looking for something to be proud of. The best investment you can make is into yourself.
Why I Love It:
The pain the next day is a motivator. I like feeling my muscles ache. I need to to work on my motivation, eating habits, and cardio.
How I Stay Motivated:
I haven't figured this out yet. Still working on it.

Goals:
Main Goal:
Lose Fat
Goal (Overall):
I want to lose approximately 30-40 pounds by next spring/summer and be able to look good with my shirt off and feel good about myself. I also want to join some recreation teams to make friends and stay fit.
Goal (Long):
The only time I felt good about my body is after joining the Navy. In high school I was too skinny and nerdy. After going through boot camp and schooling I came out in the best shape of my life. After being married and having children, my focus has been my family instead of myself and i woke up one day and asked myself "How did you get this way?" I want to look good. I want to look great. I want to be sexy. I want to be active. And I want to be proud. I'm looking to be around 200-210 pounds of solid muscle. I want to have the endurance and ability to participate in local sports and activities. My hope is to have this by spring of 2010.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 30 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
12%

Another success story. Although younger than me, he went from 282 lbs to a fit and healthy body. Impressive.
DarinK [ BodySpace ]
Darin has achieved what i aspire to achieve. Dropping the weight and flab, and transforming his body is amazing. Seeing this, I know it is possible. Even at my age.

The Good... I had an AMAZING workout today. A full ab and obliques workout, plus 20 minutes on the treadmill. I finally had a workout where i'm sweating like crazy on my own. Usually I only get that when I join a class (I'm doing a Bootcamp class tonight!).
The Bad... I slipped up last night....

I'm good just been hitting the cardio hard trying to shreaded. Just remember consistancy is the key. Its better for you to hit the gym 2 times a week consistantly then to fall off weeks at a time. When you can't get to the gym try to stay on a decent diet and you'll be fine. You have to eat to lose weight.

that way u won't have to spend all ur time in the gym doing a million sets for one muscle just to feel the burn. Also starting of u don't have to go 5 days a week. I would start with 3-4 days of lifting and cardio after those session. Remember the battle is won in the kitchen and in the resting phase.

Yeah the pain mean u put enough stress the muscle now let those muscles rest a week. High Intensity Training is all about REST AND RECOVERY. In the gym start off w/ medium heavy (a weight that u can squeeze 8-10 rep and the last 2 reps should be hard to complete). Take about 4 seconds to complete ur motions. Instead of doing 4 set of the same shoulder workout u will only do 1 set but u will do 3-4 differnt excercises for that muscle group (shoulders)

Lol! I don't alternate cardio and weight training. What I was trying to say is that I do cardio after every workout w/ a minimum of 20 min. I DON'T ALTERNATE. If ur trying to lose weight try to burn a min of 300 cal 5 to 6 days a week in cardio! Make sure u do ur cardio after ur weight workout not before. If u got anymore questions juss holla at me!

No that's just a little example of the type of training I do called Hight Intensity Training. I work every muscle in the body. I work 1-2 muscle groups a day 5 days a week followed by 5-6 days of cardio. I let every muscle I work rest and recover for 7 day before hitting them again. Here's my workout schedule: Mon: Biceps and abs Tue: Legs (quads, hams, and calves) Wed: Chest and triceps Thur: Deltoids (shoulders) and traps Fri: Whole Back and sometimes abs again Sat: Cardio Sun: Rest
