I got into weight training for football as a teenager and fell in love with it. When I started a rock band as a high school senior and did the starving musician thing though, my healthy lifestyle kinda went in a downward spiral. I started excercising again in 2003 and kept in good shape; but I really decided to get back into weightlifting abot October 2007, after my band broke up, I needed an outlet and bodybuilding/powerlifting seemed perfect. Started using protein supps in Dec 2007 to add much needed muscle. However, i didn't join a gym 'till April 2008 and decided to get REALLY serious!
For years I suffered from soul cushing depression and a drug addiction, body building gave me a new direction but it wasn't until I was baptized in the name of Jesus in June 2008 that my life truly began. Deciding to live through God was the EASILY the best decision I ever made!
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of being strong when lifting heavy. Especially being a smaller guy, even though I'll never be massive, I can still be pound for pound as strong as I a human could be. I also am into comic books, to be built like one of the x-men is a nice bonus.
How I Stay Motivated:
I hate feeling lethargic and weak. God gave me a great athletic body and the love and passion for lifting; it would be a shame to let it go to waste. To me it, it's part of the beauty of life.
All the wonderful comments and encouragement from the people on bodyspace!
BB Accomplishments:
In Oct 2007 was about 133lbs
Joined bodyspace May08 at 146lbs 14.5%bf(tracker says 8.5% bf, but that was a bad guess) Am continuing to add muscle yet stay fairly lean.

Life is very beautiful! I owe all that is good about me and my life to the Lord Jesus Christ...without Him I am nothing.
Merry Christmas everybody, and a Happy New Year! Setting goals for the winter quarter Dec22-Mar22; getting ready to reach a new level!
Goal (Long):
My goal is to share the gospel of Christ. That the Lord God is ONE, and His name is Jesus! That salvation comes only through faith in Him, and the faith that only His blood has the power to cleanse sin. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and the wages of sin are death! But the Lord Jesus has conquered death and sin for His people, by becoming flesh to teach us His ways and to offer His body as a sacrifice on the cross, so that those who have faith in Him may be redeemed by that blood. And He did so not because we are worthy...but because God is love! Praise the Lord, for His Love and mercy endureth forever!
Carla is just amazing, someone who stays true to Christ and does things the right way, and her lifts are just CRAZY...she is just a wonderful example in this sport:) God bless you Carla!
I've decided to do a quarterly progress report from now on, because I really think this will help me do the extra to get to my goals. It also shows that YES I am making progress, slow as it may be! I also will set some quarterly lifting and physique goals as well. Here's the progress so far,...
Day1-Set of Barbell Bench at 85-90% of 1RM for 5 reps. Rest 5 minutes then a set of Smith Power Press at 30%1RM for 3 reps. Rest 3 minutes then repeat cycle for two more sets.
