How I Started:
I graduated college in 2003 at 315lbs (I'll post some pics ughh). I decided it was time to change my body. I dropped down to 180lbs in about 18 months by dieting and lots of cardio and sprint training. It was a total lifestyle change, and one that I've embraced. Earlier in 2009, I saw a picture of myself back then and now and couldn't really believe it. I'd come such a long way. But now what? I was at a stopping point for losing weight. In fact, I looked sick IMO. In my mind, I've stil got this mental complex of becoming fat so the weight number is/was utmost important. I knew I wanted to continue my healthy lifestyle but I wanted to take it to the next level. That is when I discovered bodybuilding. Super-strict diets and workout regimens that are right up my alley. I enjoy making goals and hitting them. I still have that little bug in the back of my mind telling me that "you weigh more, your fat" but I have plenty of friends and family that give me the positive reenforcement that I need to get over that hump.
Why I Love It:
I love a good pump. Mind-muslce link is key. I enjoy keeping my workouts interesting by changing reps/weight/order of my sets. I love to discover a better way to isolate a muscle. I enjoy my compound lifts and the way they get blood pumping quickly. Oh, and I love squats!
How I Stay Motivated:
My conscience does that for me. When you were as fat as I was, the signs of your past will always be apparent (unless you get surgery). All I've got to do is take my shirt off to see my motivation.
