When I Started:
Oct, 2000
How I Started:
I was a teen mom at 16, ended up out of shape, dirt-poor and eating very unhealthy; After my second child was born when I was 23, I was sick of being lazy and complaining about my body ~ initially I lost 30 lbs through hiking w/ my baby in a front pack, and was still 10-15 lbs overweight, wanting to shed that last bit of body fat, and ended up losing 25 lbs. of fat, gaining 15 lbs of lean muscle and became addicted to weight lifting, body building and eating clean. Now I love my body
Why I Love It:
I found out I am naturally very strong, and this led to an addiction to weight lifting; I love the way my body responds, changes and looks when I eat clean, and train hard. I will never be a size 2, even dieted down for a show, I am a solid size 4; so I do with what I have as the size 0's and 2's are everywhere!
How I Stay Motivated:
I love it when people meet my son and think he's my brother or friend, and their jaws drop when they find out he is my child!I also have a young daughter to set a good example for..Fitness works people! I remember how hard it was to initially lose the weight, and gain the muscle, and try not to backslide too far even though I LOVE food and I LOVE to cook; My job as a trainer and a mom keeps me on task, setting a good example and staying strong for clients and my two kids is important to me, since I didn't have these good influences..not to mention my husband makes me feel beautiful constantly on or off season ;)
BB Accomplishments:
Successfully maintaining a significant weight loss and muscle gain since I was 23, becoming a certified trainer, certified group ex leader and wellness coach, BodyPump Instructor,Boot Camp Instructor..!
Competing in six NPC Figure comps, and qualified for junior nationals; Also, the privilege of writing articles for BodyBuilding.com and few others (but is there really any other?) Bodybuilding.com has really helped me grow and flourish as a fit person, a trainer, a trainee, and figure competitor and an informed supplement consumer in the last few years ~ anything you need to know is right here!

OK I am all for staying motivated during the Christmas season, but it is literally 9 degrees outside. My German Shepherds refused to go for their normal early walk, they just laid down and went belly up by the front door.
So, I type on the laptop while on my StairMaster in my living room,...

Looking great Jaime! Are you going to the Arnold to compete, or to be at a booth or just as a spectator? I am still hoping to be able to get there this year.
Hi Jaime. I just read ur article on losing fat. I did use the calculators on ur article and figured out how I'm going to start. I'm addicted to coffee w/non dairy creamer and splenda. Is this something I need to give up too? Just wondering what ur thoughts are.
