Short term: to bench press 350 lbs, squat 500 lbs, and to deadlift 450 lbs
Goal (Long):
My ultimate goal is to transform my body to the point where I feel I could compete in a natural body building show again. I want to be bigger, leaner, and healthier. Along the way I want to break all my old strength records, setting personal bests in three power movements: the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
Five to ten, depending on the movement. I have found that five sets of five reps is great for strength and endurance gains on bench, squats, and deadlifts. For trying to really blast a muscle I do drop sets and super sets with using the same muscle groups.Five to ten, depending on the movement. How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
Up to five minutes on heavy power exercises, two or three minutes on most everything else.
This is a four week rotation, warming up with calves and finishing with abs each day. The goal is to hit the larger muscles every four to five days and the smaller muscles every two or three days, with no more than three days of lifting in a row without a rest day.
I like your strength goal - probably becuase it's the same as mine - good work on getting back to serious lifting, looks like it's paying off for you big time. Keep up the great work, but don't get so big you can't float in that new kayak (haha).
I've done the Natahala (sp?) in a kayak or ducky and the ocoee in a raft. Love that activity! Good luck to you! That's a beautiful part of the country.
