My church activities leader Tim Slesk was into triathlons, and super fit, and he seemed amazingly happy. He's a huge inspiration, right along with Lance Armstong. And can't forget Tom Wilfong who taught me the importance of disipline.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of accomplishment, and the ability to push harder and harder. The ability to do things others can't even fathom.
How I Stay Motivated:
When things aren't going well, we all need a tough grinding workout.
I am SINGLE, my favorite date idea is anything including some type of workout.
Sometimes we all need a few days off, don't get burned out. Then, when you feel ready, go for it.
BB Accomplishments:

Goal (Long):
I want to cut time off my Lake Stevens 70.3 1/2 Ironman distance time for July 2008. I need to cut 10 minutes off my swim time, 10 minutes off my bike time, and 30 minutes off my run time, Making my finish time no more than 5:33:00. I also will continue to build my triathlon experience and become more lean, have more energy (life style), and have more endurance.
Am signed up for the Mazkenzie River trail run in Oregon, and plan on finishing while feeling good about myself and my performance.
I am going to complete in my first ever Seattle to Portland Bike Race with my father, this will be a social ride to enjoy the scenery and the fun, while challenging regarding the fatigue and endurance. This ride is one week after my Ironman race, so proper rest between races is essential.
If I can complete all these goals, and feel good about myself, then I should consider signing up for Ironman Canada for 2009. Signup is Aug 25 2008 in person. I need to get my passport to allow signup in person.

So, this weekend I traveled to Eastern Washington to compete in the Moses Lake olympic distance triathlon. The drive was good, and we were able to get some rest at my uncle's house in Ephrata, only 30 minutes...
Train Train Train, and not the locomotive type. I am deep into intensity workouts, endurance, and stamina. Anything outdoors and triathlon related. Commuting to and from work from Woodinville to Lake Stevens helps with my cycling training, and multiple workouts per day. Long runs, and cool...
Good luck with the triathlon this weekend. I'm going to be on a ship somewhere off the coast of Alaska by then but I'll be pulling for you. Looking forward to finding out how it went when I get back.
i thought you'd like that comeback.. haha..i saw the bike course change today! can't wait to see it on saturday! i appreciate you giving me the heads up on the change.. i like the one less hill :) so how are you surviving taper week?

BEAGLE!! i'm so nervousexcitedscaredanxiousela ted that i don't know what to do with myself! i'm kinda nervous about the bike just because i keep hearing how hilly it is. i've been training for hills but still! AAAHHHH!!! 8 DAYS BEAGLE!! can you believe it???
yeah ive been tryin to keep up with workin out but i feel so lazy after that ride... but im gettin into it again...thinkin maybe triathalon next year...gotta start running,,,eghhhh...so have you been training for an endurance triathalon???
Hey thanks for dropping in to say what's up. Yeah I really like Lake Stevens so far. No gym in a while I really need to hit it heavy again! Still trying to get it form my ex. Soon though....
The Daniels book is very good and I recommend it if one of your goals is to achieve better times in running races. He has very detailed discussions of the components of running success -- VO2 max, lactate threshold, endurance, etc. The most useful thing in it is charts that help you determine exactly what your training paces should be based upon your current performance level. I don't follow it religiously but I think it's useful.
How much is the VO2 max testing? I've never done that; instead I've just used running results to get a rough sense of VO2 max using Jack Daniels' Running Formula (his book is very helpful). But the VO2 max numbers can't be exact using this method because there are other factors that determine running performance.
The biggest thing lacking was simply time on the bike in training. Once my Achilles tendon healed well enough I shifted my attention to running away from swimming and biking. I could tell I wasn't as strong on the bike as I would have been had I been more diligent about time on the bike every week in training. That's one of the things I'll do different next time: more long endurance rides, getting up to 50 miles or so. I may also add some spinning classes at the gym.
i've been reading about the VO2 max testing and it looks pretty cool as far as a training aid.. i didn't realize the official testing was that expensive!
Thanks for checking in and congratulations on your triathlon performance! I haven't posted the full blog yet because I'm waiting to get the posting of the complete results online -- I timed it on my watch but I tend to be a bit sloppy about timing during the race.
Overall I think my time, subject to official confirmation, was about 2:40:10. Satisfied, but I know I can do better next time. Full report to come.
Hey there - my friend Sharon and I are just doing the 5k but we are very excited. new to 'running'. I haven't been training like I'd like to for running specifically but have been doing workouts regularly.
seriously?? PAM!? i heard that was a no-no.. mostly cuz of the environment, i think.. AND CONGRATS ON MOSES LAKE! can't wait to read the blog =)i don't know about riding LS prior.. i've been training on our lake road, and let me tell you, if LS is any hillier than Summit Lake, then holy crud! haha.. but i do plan on driving the course the day before the race.. NOW GET TO WRITING THAT BLOG, BEAGLE! =)
