When I Started:
Oct, 2008
How I Started:
I played sports all growing up, mainly softball. I played in high school and competively during the summer, was really active and NEVER watched what I ate. As soon as I graduated and stopped playing year round, I gained 40 pounds within the first 6-8 months.
Finally, in October 2008, I said enough was enough and I started going to the gym consistently. I lost 25 pounds on my own but it took me almost a year. I didn't really work out hard enough and I was not counting calories.
In July 2009, I was at the gym and I saw a hot looking woman who was exactly what I wanted to look like. Come to find out, the guy she was with was a trainer and she competed in Figure. I decided then and there that this was what I wanted to do.
I called him the next day, set up a time and now he his my trainer, getting me geared up for my first show. I have had the best progress with him in 5 weeks, then the past 9 months on my own.
To be continued...
Why I Love It:
It gives me a power and control over my body that no one else has. You get the rush of knowing that you are sculpting your body better and better each day.
I love lifting weights!!
How I Stay Motivated:
I look at pictures of women that I want to look like... I constantly try and surround myself with positive people who want the same things I do! Love you Heather!
My stretch marks remind me that I will NEVER go back to being my old fat self and that being thin feels better than stuffing your face of greasy chinese, sweets and soda!!
BB Accomplishments:
Not any yet, but I'll get there soon!

What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Take it one day at a time and don't set yourself up failure by looking too far into the future. Be realistic about your goals and know that things take time. Patience is a virtue!

What do you do before your workout to get motivated and energized?
I listen to music and visulize the change my body is going to make by working out hard.
Hey girly! I will do NPC next time, and I'm switchin to bikini! Carry along means for a week or two you train nothing but the bodypart you'd like to bring up that you feel is lagging :)
Yeah I could do nationals..but I would get crushed! I want an overall trophy before I go to nationals. I'm thinking I'm going to do both bikini and figure in march..I can't wait to get back on stage!
The best advice I can give is plan, plan, plan. Jumper11 has a great series of blogs about getting prepared. If you aren't working with anyone this is the time to REALLY get to know your body and how it responds to food. Did you have any specific questions?
