How I Started:
I had always lifted and trained through high school and college for football. After leaving school I hadn't seen the inside of a gym for YEARS. Between then and my son being born I had balooned to 270+ lbs and a 40" waist. I took one look at my son after he was born and made the decision right then that I was getting back in the gym so he could have an active dad that would be ready for whatever he could throw my way as he grew.
Why I Love It:
There is nothing better than the personal battle inside your head to squeeze out one more set...one more rep! Helps me de-stress and gain mental clarity and focus...and the physical side effects of lifting are pretty good
How I Stay Motivated:
As someone else so eloquently put it..How do I stay motivated? I keep looking in the mirror! And keep wanting better and better.

She is the best wife in the world first off. Secondly she knows what my goals are and pushes me to hit them. weather it be gettin my lazy butt up at five to go lift or making sure that we get all the proper nutrituion we need. She is such an inspiration by her workouts and her new found self discipline that it inspires ME to push even harder
One of my bestest bodyspace buddies who ALWAYS seems to pop in when I need a little kick in the arse! She is always positive and always pushin me to get in extra sets and extra reps......and ALWAYS reminding me to get my CARDIO in...even when I dont want to...but I get it in because of her!!!!!! Thanks bro! I do appreciate it. Long, busy week and kicking back today. No weights tomorrow, but the week off has really restored my energy. The BCAA's seem to be helping. Hookup with the guac? Good, I guess I'm sensitive to such things. I've always had issues with people not quite understanding me and relationships sort of falling out because of things I've said. So good. Thanks for the input on the diet. I think I will try to boost the protein a little and do the BCAA and see what happens. This is good. Learning how to adjust the diet when things start going off track. All my fats from Avocados? Not quite yet, a little more ripening and then I'm in guac heaven. -T
Hey, hope I didn't offend you bro. Anyways did a quick count to get an rough picture of what's going on nutrition wise. On non training days, I take in on average 2700cal, 365g carbs, 245g protein and 41g fat (50/36/14). On training days, I take in an average of 3300cal, 475g carbs, 330g protein and 45g fat. The difference comes from my postworkout shake. Anything stand out?-T
I'll review the protein/diet tonight, as I have a pretty good handle on what I eat each day (not actual calorie and protein). Not to put a number on it, but what's your best estimate on grams/lb I should be shooting for? I think if my memory serves me correct my protein intake is around 240-250g, but maybe off currently.
