It was always a dream of mine to compete, and I started this journey because I was challenged to do so.
Why I Love It:
I love being able to sculpt my physique through hard work. Lifting weights is a spiritual experience for me and gets me through to the other side of any situation I am dealing with.
How I Stay Motivated:
My motivation comes from diverse sources. Just as I am a multidimensional person so are the reasons that I workout and compete. Additionally, I am a person with intense drive to always push for a better physique. It is that drive inside of me that keeps my spirit alive and pushes me everyday. This lifestyle has given me much purpose and direction. Bodybuilding is an integral part of my continual path toward self betterment.
BB Accomplishments:
2005 NPC Southern States Overall Figure Champion
2007 WNSO North American Advanced Figure Champion

I have a lot of respect for Ian both personally and professionally. Ian inspires me to be the best I can be and helps give me the courage to grow on many levels. He has been an incredibly important person in my life.
How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
1-3 minutes. It depends on how many repetitions I complete. 12-15 reps or higher I take about a minute rest. 6-8 reps I rest for about 2 minutes. This is because that is how it takes for the lactic acid to leave the cells of the muscle being used.1-3 minutes. Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
I just recently recovered from tendonidus(spelling??) of the long head of the bicep. I could not work chest or shoulders for a month. I did rehab work building the stabilizing muscles of the shoulder joint, and took a ton of supplements to aid joint health and repair.I just recently recovered from tendonidus(spelling??) of the long head of the bicep. So I have been hitting it way hard this offseason...I started to feel a little burnt out. I took some extra rest and when I logged back on here, your new videos really got me re-motivated. Thankyou Ava :)
I just love your new video as spokesmodel for Gaspari Nutrion. You have the perfect
and natural look to persuade people to buy the product. Go to www.myspace.com/physiqueartist s.
BTW I dig the videos especially the leg routine video. A video that's more helpful/productive than some of the videos I have seen here i.e. videos of people just flexing their abs nothing else..
WOW! Every time I see you on the web or in a mag it seems like you improve so much, when it doesn't seem possible. You are the only female bodybuilder that inspires me to work hard and to be committed. You rock and I hope that one day I can tell many people how you inspired me as I walk on stage. I want to start going to some bodybuilding shows so if there are any that you know of that would be great. Thank you Ava for your time. P.s. it would be awesome to meet you one day! Mark Cooper
